Destiny 2's Season of the Splicer just featured a weekly mission that was longer than usual and used a new Expunge location on Europa called "Delphi," which is the lair of Quria. Quria is a Vex Taken Mind introduced into the lore a long time ago, and she played a crucial part in the events of the Dreaming City back when Forsaken launched. She was also behind the Endless Night of the Last City this Season. This interesting character was created by the Vex in order to understand the Hive's Sword Logic and challenge it, which Quria did by learning to simulate parts of Oryx before he Took her and gifted her to Savathun, the Witch Queen.

However, this week's mission was bittersweet for long-time fans of Destiny 2, because Quria was never previously encountered by the Guardians and was hyped up as a legendary character, but went down in a single fight. Quria, Blade Transform, the Dreaming Mind, is no more; this event may seem like it's not a big deal, but it will likely have branching consequences be felt into The Witch Queen expansion early next year. Even if the showdown may have felt underwhelming, or not delivering all the hype Bungie had built over the years, this is not the end of the story arc for Season of the Splicer.

Savathun Posing as Osiris, Lakshmi's Coup, and the War Against the Eliksni

With Quria defeated, it seems the Last City is finally seeing a bit of light piercing the veil of the Endless Night, but things are still not looking up. Lakshmi is content with the victory, despite all her efforts to undermine the alliance between the Vanguard and the Elksni of the House of Light led by Mithrax, but her agenda has not unfolded fully. Last week, players learned that Lakshmi proposed a coup for Saint-14 to become the new Titan Vanguard, and she did the same with Osiris to replace Ikora Rey and lead the Warlocks.

Osiris, on the other hand, has been quite off for a few Seasons. This chain of events was set in motion at the very beginning of the Season of the Hunt when Osiris was on the Moon and lost his Light due to his Ghost, Sagira, sacrificing herself to save him. Ever since, Osiris' judgment seems to have been clouded in ways that make him look suspicious, like when he took a keen interest in the Crown of Sorrows found in the heart of the Glykon last Season. This Season, Osiris has been acting weird, to the point that many Destiny 2 fans have theorized the legendary Warlock is actually Savathun - or at least is being controlled by her.

Regardless, another important piece of lore for this week came in the form of the Beneath the Endless Night book getting Chapter 9 - Prediction. Here, Guardians can read about a strange conversation between Lakshmi and Osiris, talking about how in the darkness it's difficult to tell friends from foes. Lakshmi states this small dawn is but a "flash of lightning before the coming storm." This alludes to a final confrontation between Lakshmi and the Eliksni, likely in a civil war scenario.

Osiris could be either an active part of this or manipulating things from the shadows, especially if the theory about him being Savathun is proven to be correct. Thus, Quria's defeat might seem like the end of things, but there's much more to happen in Destiny 2, with the Season of the Splicer arguably being one of the game's best showings in some time.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
