As Season of the Splicer enters its final days, Guardians are now looking ahead at what Bungie has in store for Destiny 2. The first piece of this is set for August 24 and Bungie's reveal stream for the game's next major expansion, The Witch Queen. However, Bungie is looking to get the hype train going early and did so by announcing the title of the game's next season kicking off after Tuesday's reveal stream.

Bungie announced Season 15 of Destiny 2 will be titled Season of the Lost and shared an image to tease players with whats in store. The image features Mara Sov, who has not been seen in-game since Forsaken and Season of the Forge, standing in a room which appears to be inside the Dreaming City. Also seen in the image standing behind Mara is Osiris, who, especially after the events of Season of the Splicer, may not be the Osiris players met back in Destiny 2's first year.

This is the first of what is set to be a big next few days for Bungie and Destiny 2. As mentioned above, Bungie will be hosting another reveal stream offering the first proper look at 2022's The Witch Queen expansion. It also further validates the massive Destiny 2 "notepade" leak from earlier in 2021 which has proven to be largely correct up to this point, though how much of the information around Season of the Lost and The Witch Queen is correct remains to be seen.

There are also several narrative threads Bungie has available to pull on for Season of the Lost which could make for some interesting moments leading up to The Witch Queen. The first revolve around Osiris, himself. His actions over the last three seasons have arroused many players' suspicions, which only intensified after he was implicated by Lakshmi-2 in her efforts to banish the Eliksni from the Last City in Season of the Splicer. One of the biggest theories is that Osiris is Savathun, as several pieces of seasonal lore imply she is hiding among the city's people, or is at least being controlled by Savathun.

Another major thread surrounds the future of the Dreaming City after the destruction of Quria the Blade Transform. The Taken Vex Mind was destroyed in the final expunge mission, halting the endless night which engulfed the city. It's also believed Quria was partly responsible for the Taken curse in the Dreaming City, locking into a three-week cycle which has run since players first beat the Last Wish raid.

The third thread involves the ongoing story of Mara's brother the Crow, formerly known as Uldren Sov before his resurrection as a lightbearer. While it's been implied in the lore Mara was aware of his resurrection, the pair has not been seen working together since the opening cutscene of The Taken King.

Destiny 2 is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
