Bungie is all but ready to release the Season of the Deep for Destiny 2, and the community is excited to discover what the game's next big batch of seasonal content may have in store for them, but a leaker is now claiming that the whole thing may be a bit weirder than expected. Though Destiny is one of the most successful live-service offerings on the market, the community has complained about things getting stale for some time now.A whole slew of good changes is being delivered in Season of the Deep. For example, Destiny 2's Season 21 is reducing endgame grind by a measurable margin, which is great news for veteran players. However, it's easy to argue that core economy updates aren't the sort of gameplay loop alterations that will keep the player base busy over a long period of time.RELATED: Destiny 2 Player's Replica Collection Includes the Original Exotic Swords from The Taken KingWith that in mind, a Destiny 2 leaker now claims that Season 21 will introduce fishing to the game. Discord leaker Liz, whose info has sometimes been accurate in the past, has come up with a list of content that they claim will be making its way into the game come Season of the Deep, and highlights include several unique seasonal activities, a submarine on Titan, three unique new Exotic weapons, and more. Everything aside from fishing, however, seems like standard fare for Destiny, but Liz claims that players will be able to fish on Titan and then place whatever they catch into a HELM-based aquarium.

Destiny 2's Season of the Deep is crucial in the grand scheme of things, as the expectations are remarkably high following the game's criticized release of the Lightfall DLC and Season 20 itself. With a new dungeon slated to launch alongside Season 21, the player base is sure to have enough new content to go around for some time, but if Liz is right and Bungie is looking to introduce stranger features like fishing into the mix, that could certainly liven things up in the long run.

It's still too early to say whether Liz could be right or not, but it goes without saying that a veritable fishing feature isn't something anyone would expect to see in Destiny. The things that Bungie has already revealed for Season of the Deep are standard-fare goodies. Destiny 2's new underwater location, armor, and weaponry don't stand out as awfully original, but if the addition of fishing was ever on the docket, it's seems likely to happen during a water-themed season.

With that in mind, players should take Liz's leaks with a pinch of salt, and it may be worth seeing what else Bungie has in store for Season of the Deep in general. Destiny 2's Season 21 has some controversial changes in tow, with the game potentially flirting with actual pay-to-win features in short order. Only time will tell, but with Season 21 slated to launch on May 22, it won't be a long wait.

Destiny 2 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
