While not expected in every content drop from Destiny 2, raids are definitely one of the most anticipated activities to come with a new expansion, DLC, or add-on to the game. Unfortunately for those hoping for another raid after Shadowkeep's positively-received Garden of Salvation raid, the upcoming Season of Dawn will not be adding a new raid to the game.

And based on the information about Season 9 released so far, it does not appear that any of the game's raids are being revisited or reprised in any way. While not entirely a surprise considering that developer Bungie never teased that a raid would be coming in Season of Dawn, it does bring up a question of when players might see another raid in Destiny 2.

Season of Dawn appears to be mirroring pretty closely what players saw in the current Season of the Undying as far as content. A new season pass will deliver an exotic weapon, seasonal armor and weapons, shaders, an emote, finisher, boosts and more. The new 6-player activity The Sundial appears as if it will be the season's version of Vex Offensive. A new seasonal artifact will replace the current one. And there will be a couple exotic quests.

Developer Bungie is not giving any significant details about what is coming over the full course of Year 3. In fact, the developer is just now revealing Season of Dawn less than a week before it goes live in the game. It's a far cry from the previewed roll out for the Year 2 Annual Pass.

However, that may be very well expected considering that the Annual Pass was developed in partnership with Bungie's former publishing partner Activision and some of its development studios. Bungie has said that the Annual Pass content caused a lot of strain on its developers even with the help of Activision, so the new Year 3 plan that is entirely on Bungie is designed to ease the heavy burden experienced last year.

In Year 2, Black Armory brought with it the Scourge of the Past raid, Season of the Drifter skipped a raid and added Gambit Prime, and then Season of Opulence added the Crown of Sorrow raid. Again, Bungie has already said that this third year with its four seasons will look much different than Year 2. Bungie described the cadence of Destiny 2 moving forward will be a yearly expansion in the fall, like Shadowkeep, to anchor the year followed by four seasons. Based on Shadowkeep and these first two seasons, could that mean that a raid will only come to the game with that major fall expansion?

Only time will tell when Bungie pulls back the curtain further on the rest of the year, but for now, players know that the upcoming Season of Dawn will not contain a raid.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One. Season of Dawn begins December 10, 2019.
