Destiny 2 seems to be experiencing more bugs than usual right now, with some issues even impeding progress and breaking certain weapons in the game. While some bugs are certainly to be expected in an online live game, the amount currently causing issues in Destiny 2 seems to be more plentiful with more cropping up over the past few days.

Many players are reporting these issues on the Destiny subreddit and, to Bungie's credit, community managers are often acknowledging the bugs and replying that the bug being reported by players will be passed along to the development team to look into and fix. But there has not been a lot of communication as to when these issues may be fixed.

On the more significant side, there is a bug that is causing issues with being able to activate the obelisk in the EDZ, which is a major part of Season of Dawn and being able to access the entirety of the game's content during the current season. While this isn't an issue with every player and some players can fix it simply by re-loading into the zone or restarting the game, some players have had to resort to some further steps to fix it including clearing their console cache or even turn back the system date on their console.

There is also an issue with the quest for the Gambit pinnacle weapon Python that is removing progress if players reset their Infamy before getting all the shotgun kill requirements for the quest, making them start over on certain requirements.

Exotic weapon bugs are also popping up, including (to almost no one's surprise) Telesto, which players can exploit to get ammo, as well as Polaris Lance whose main perk's exploding rounds not exploding if players continue firing the weapon. The season's mods are also causing an issue with existing Legendary weapons in the game, including bows with Explosive Head not working if the bow is equipped with this season's anti-barrier mods. There was also a bug caused by the seasonal mods that allowed players to get supers extremely fast.

While those kinds of issues are hindering players, some are helping them like the glitch that allows them to pull double rewards from the Sundial. There was a previous bug that also allowed players to use Sundial rewards for infusion without the item itself being dismantled allowing for multiple infusions, but that issue has since been fixed in the most recent patch. There are also more minor, but quite annoying, bugs like long black screens before loading into an activity.

It seems to be a bad time in terms of bugs for Destiny 2 right now, and it will be interesting to see if it gets better. Bungie has yet to comment on the frequency of the bugs and the cause if there is one. Many have been quick to speculate that Bungie has less support to squash bugs like these than in the past when it had the help of some of Activision's studios. After Bungie's split from Activision and its taking on of full self-publishing rights for the franchise, the game is fully upon Bungie's shoulders. While the state of the game is far from an emergency, the quicker Bungie can address these issues the better.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
