Because Destiny 2 is a game with an ever-shifting meta, thanks to Bungie's changes to the weapon sandbox and the addition of new seasonal mods, it's not uncommon for players to discover incredible combos that take their characters to the next level. Such is the case in Destiny 2's Season of the Lost, where a brand-new mod found in the last row of this Season's artifact makes fusion rifles and linear fusion rifles even better. This mod is called Particle Deconstruction, and it costs seven energy of any element, meaning players can slot it in class items with any Destiny 2 armor affinity they wish, However, what's special about it is how it improves fusion guns.

Particle Deconstruction is not too dissimilar from mods like Breach and Clear, in the sense that it places a debuff on the enemies hit by fusion or linear fusion rifles, which stacks up to five times and lasts for a short duration. The debuff increases the amount of damage these guns can deal by a lot per stack, and it can stack up to five times quite easily with fusion rifle bursts. This means that players can then unload their linear fusion rifles on the enemy and melt them in seconds. As such, Particle Deconstruction makes some rare Destiny 2 weapons insanely potent, to the point that Raid or Dungeon bosses are reduced to ashes with the proper fireteam and a bit of coordination.

How Destiny 2's Particle Deconstruction Makes Raid Guns Insane

Destiny 2 Guardian Holding Vex Mythoclast

Among the most outstanding combinations in Destiny 2 at the moment are weapons like Sleeper Simulant, Vex Mythoclast, and One Thousand Voices, as all have become a must-have in all sorts of PVE content. Sleeper Simulant is the easiest to obtain of the bunch, as it is available in the Exotic kiosk in the Tower, also known as Monument to Lost Lights. It costs an Exotic Cypher and an Ascendant Shard, along with some Glimmer and planetary materials. As for Vex Mythoclast and One Thousand Voices, however, things get much more complex. This is because they are random drops from completing the Vault of Glass and Last Wish Raids, respectively.

Still, Particle Deconstruction has had a tremendous impact on their viability in high-end PVE content, and each of these weapons serves a different purpose, even though they are all used to achieve immense DPS numbers. Due to the nature of these weapons being Solar guns, they can all work very well with a combination of the Charged with Light and Elemental Well mods to scale their damage even more. And, on top of that, Particle Deconstruction also works if combined with the Weaken debuff - but only after the former is applied and fully stacked.

Particle Deconstruction increases the damage of all fusion weapons by 7% with a single stack, 14.5% with two stacks, 22.5% with three stacks, 31% with four stacks, and finally 40% with all five stacks applied. As such, Vex Mythoclast is dominating the meta. It also got another 40% increase in damage against all combatants in PVE, meaning that mods like High-Energy Fire can increase that damage by another 20%. Then, factoring in Font of Might and the new damage bonus that the catalyst for Vex Mythoclast got, this weapon can shred everything.

A similar build can be used for One Thousand Voices as well, with the difference being that players will need a special fusion rifle in the Energy slot to stack Particle Deconstruction to the maximum. Still, One Thousand Voices can now get to around 170.000 DPS by also pairing it with the Hunters' tether and the Titans' Weapons of Light, making it the hardest hitting weapon in the entire game. Because of this, now is the best time to farm Raids for Vex Mythoclast and One Thousand Voices. With this Season lasting for six months and leading into The Witch Queen expansion in February, players should get these weapons as soon as possible.

Destiny 2 is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
