Destiny 2 is a couple of weeks into its current Season of Dawn, and a new collection of weapons have been added to the game with the current season's content. Destiny 2 players have had a chance to get their hands on a number of these weapons and a selection of them has begun rising to the top as the best weapons to farm for that perfect roll.

The majority of the new weapons come from the new Sundial activity or the associated obelisks and their individual Timelost weapon bounties. But there is one, in particular, that is a reprised weapon in Season of Dawn that is perhaps one of the best in the game right now.

Breachlight

best weapons season of dawn

Breachlight was one of the first standouts when Season of Dawn began. It is a kinetic sidearm that can dish out some major damage with the right perk combinations, and there are good rolls for both PvP and PvE. It is also easily farmable, as it comes from the Sundial activity as a weapon drop when the Tangled Shore obelisk is linked to the Sundial.

There are a lot of PvE rolls to suit players' specific preferences including Demolitionist for fast grenade recharge, Outlaw and Multikill Clip, the new Osmosis perk that will apply an element to the weapon upon grenade throw, and the classic favorite Rampage. For PvP, Outlaw and Rampage is a great combo for a damage bonus or an Outlaw and Quickdraw roll for aggressive playstyles who want to use this weapon as more of a cleanup weapon.

Last Hope

best weapons season of dawn

Along the same lines as Breachlight, the reprised energy sidearm Last Hope is crazy good right now. This season is likely walking into a sidearm meta that will continue to cement itself as the season continues. Sidearms like Breachlight and Last Hope and the upcoming exotic sidearm Devil's Ruin are likely contributing to the rising popularity of sidearms. Last Hope was a very good weapon in Year 1 of Destiny 2 but has since fallen to the wayside.

But with the new reprised version with new random rolls, there are great options for both PvE and PvP. In fact, some players are calling this sidearm more deadly than The Recluse submachinegun. For PvP, perks to look for are Feeding Frenzy for fast reloads or Rangefinder to further push out the effective range of this weapon. In the last column, players can find Rampage, Zen Moment, or Tap the Trigger, which are all good options.

For PvE, there's one roll in particular to farm for—Feeding Frenzy and Multikill Clip. This roll can tear through minor enemies in the game and buff damage to melt even major enemies once stacks of Multikill Clip have been built up. Last Hope is a world drop, so it can be found randomly throughout the game as a Legendary drop. However, the best place to farm for it is with the Gunsmith by turning in Gunsmith parts.

Perfect Paradox

The Perfect Paradox shotgun also returns in Season of Dawn with the ability to get random rolls. Players are going to get one version of Perfect Paradox by default while playing through Season of Dawn's story content, getting a fixed roll of Slideshot and Trench Barrel. This is already a pretty good roll considering that Trench Barrel has only been available on a very limited number of shotguns, with perhaps the most famous one being the Escalation Protocol shotgun. Considering the drop rate for that shotgun and that some players may have never gotten it, the new Perfect Paradox could be the first opportunity some players have for getting a shotgun with that perk.

Beyond that, once players unlock the Tower obelisk that became available after Saint-14 arrived in the Tower, they are able to pick up a Timelost bounty for Perfect Paradox that will result in the weapon dropping with random rolls. In the first column, it can roll with Demolitionist, Slideshot, or Field Prep (which is desirable for PvE for it giving the weapon increased ammo reserves). In the last column, besides Trench Barrel, it can roll with Swashbuckler, One-Two Punch, or Opening Shot.

Martyr's Retribution

best weapons season of dawn

Martyr's Retribution is an entirely new archetype of grenade launcher added in Season of Dawn. Called a Wave Frame grenade launcher, its grenade hits and releases a line of fire along the ground very much like the Sunbreaker's Thermite Grenade. This single-shot grenade launcher is not meant to impact directly with the enemy like many of the powerful grenade launchers of the recent past, but instead, be shot at the ground in front of enemies with the most damage being dealt by that line of fire.

Due to how unique this weapon is and the ability for some really good rolls, this is definitely a weapon to farm. Players can get this weapon by completing its Timelost weapon bounty from the Mars obelisk. Perks to look for are Auto-Loading Holster or Field Prep in the third column and Demolitionist, Lead from Gold, or Rangefinder in the fourth column.

Trophy Hunter

best weapons season of dawn

The Trophy Hunter sniper rifle has not received a ton of attention yet because it is earned late in the Season Pass for Season of Dawn. But this 72 RPM high-impact sniper rifle is a very unique weapon that has a good PvE roll that is good for dealing boss damage. While players will earn this weapon at rank 45 of the Season Pass, the roll it comes with is not the one players should be after. But thankfully, like the Perfect Paradox, the Timelost weapon bounty for Trophy Hunter can be picked up at the Tower obelisk. And the roll players should be hunting for is Triple Tap and Vorpal Weapon. Triple Tap returns one round back into the magazine for every three precision hits and Vorpal Weapon is a new Season of Dawn perk that increases damage to bosses by 15%. This is also the only sniper rifle in the game that can get Vorpal Weapon on it, with the perk only appearing on primary weapons.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
