Those wondering when Destiny 2's sixth season, Season of the Drifter, starts now have their answer. Developer Bungie officially announced today that Season 6 will begin at reset on Tuesday, March 5, 2019. Previously, Bungie had started to advise players to start wrapping up some of their seasonal tasks by March 4th, so it was assumed March 5th would be the start of the next season, but Bungie officially confirmed it today.

Still unconfirmed is when exactly the season's accompanying premium Annual Pass content add-on, Jokers Wild, will launch. Because Bungie has yet to confirm Season 6 and Jokers Wild both starting on March 5th, it is likely that Jokers Wild will follow the same release pattern as Season 5 and its Black Armory content drop. Players saw Black Armory launch one week after the beginning of Season 5, so under that assumption, that would mean that Jokers Wild will launch March 12, but that has yet to be confirmed.

Bungie teased that Season 6, Season of the Drifter "will arrive [...] with some exciting evolutions for your Guardian lifestyle" and promised to reveal more about that soon. Each season so far has arrived with a significant game update, so, while the details are unknown, this is usually the time where significant sandbox, balancing, and quality-of-life changes are made.

Already revealed about Season 6, all players (regardless of owning the Annual Pass or not) will get an unannounced spring event, an exotic quest (all bets are on it being for Thorn), and a restocked Iron Banner. Those who own the Forsaken expansion will also receive a power increase as well as private matches and new maps for Gambit.

Season 6 is the third of four seasons in Destiny 2's second year, which started with the Season of the Outlaw and continued with the current Season of the Forge. Season 7 will be the final season of the year and is expected to begin this summer.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
