Bungie's building up hype leading into Destiny 2's Season 3 debut for Iron Banner, revealing a close look at all three classes' season-exclusive ornament rewards. As with Season 2, Destiny 2's third season will feature its own exclusive ornamentation for Iron Banner and likely other events like Faction Rally, too

Iron Banner starts for the first time in Season 3 on May 22, so Bungie debuted the new Iron Banner ornaments with this past Thursday's "This Week at Bungie." The news was somewhat overwhelmed by other stories, including Bungie planning a power progression update to smooth out the current curve and the updated Development Roadmap. Fashion and style being the most important of meta-games in Destiny 2, a tweet from Bungie Monday morning was the perfect opportunity to revisit the armor and weapons for the upcoming Iron Banner events.

This Season's Iron Banner ornamentation appears to take inspiration from western influences, whereas Season 2 armor and prior have drawn from eastern armor styles. This season seems to be aiming for heavier European armor with glistening metallic spaulders and gauntlets. But there's also a touch of Nordic influence, with Valkyrie-esque wings and feathers adorning each classes' armor as flourishes. Guardians know that the flourishes matter.

Like certain events from Season 2, acquiring ornaments in Iron Banner this season will require a mix of dedication and achievement. Each ornament has its own unique requirements, combining a minimum rank with Lord Saladin as well as an achievement such as total wins or defeating opponents with grenades. Earning the ornaments won't be as easy as playing a match or two, so Guardians looking to earn this great looking armor will have to invest some time competing.

Season 3's first Iron Banner event, of which there will be multiple, starts on May 22 and will end on May 29. Bungie has already announced that the selected game mode for this upcoming Iron Banner will be Control, allowing Guardians to properly tour the revamped Bannerfall map.  Yes, one of Destiny's most popular Taken King maps appears to be returning for Iron Banner. Whether it's staying or not is another matter entirely, so enjoy Bannerfall while it lasts.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
