GinsorKR, a prominent leaker for Destiny 2 and all things Destiny, has recently discovered and revealed the name of the upcoming season 13. According to GinsorKR, players can expect it to be called Season of the Chosen, information that has sent the fanbase into a flurry of speculation about its contents.

GinsorKR is a well-known and credible source of early Destiny 2 information, as he gets his data directly from the game's files. As a dataminer, he has also leaked other pertinent data, so while not official, this information is more likely than not correct. Naturally, a title says a lot about the themes and focuses of a season, so players are already picking it apart.

Amidst theories about what Destiny 2 season 13 will be about, season 12, Beyond Light, is still going strong. There's still a ton of stuff for players to do, and there are even those making their own challenges out of the content. One team beat the Deep Stone Crypt raid without weapons.

The tweet above shows GinsorKR's claim, though it doesn't have much in the way of sources or other information to back it up. Given the nature of the leak and the lack of any kind of evidence, fans shouldn't take this as fact even if he's a typically credible leaker. Despite this, many are already guessing at what the next season will be about. One player relates the Season of the Chosen to datamined Destiny 2 information in the form of a cutscene called "The Choice." During this cutscene, the player chooses to save Crow, leading some to believe that this may be a continuation of his story.

Another popular theory is that Mithrax, the Kell of Light, might be a major focus of the story. Of course, this is largely fueled simply by fan desire, but it would be cool to see nonetheless and could make sense given the theme of the season. To back this theory up, one user points to the Kell of Kells prophecy, a premonition that one member of the Fallen race would be crowned the Kell of Kells. It could be that the chosen refers to Mithrax, as the prophecy implies that the Traveler itself will choose who it should be.

Of course, it's still far too early for anything to be said with any amount of certainty. Until an official announcement about new Destiny 2 seasons is made, these theories will remain just that, theories. That said, it shouldn't be too much longer before more information about the game's future starts to trickle out, so interested fans should be sure to stay tuned.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
