In its "This Week At Bungie" blog post on May 28, the studio promised new content would be revealed soon for Destiny 2, including information about the season of content to follow Season of the Worthy and the upcoming year's story. More vague teasers have been released since, but today Bungie gave fans something more concrete with a teaser video and the promise of a big reveal on June 9, 2020 at 6 p.m. CEST.

The teaser video was released on Destiny's official Instagram account, and features Eris Morn making her way through a snowstorm on an icy tundra with the planet Jupiter in the background — leading many fans to guess she is on Europa, one of Jupiter's moons. Having an actual video with a planned event to speculate on is a much meatier morsel for Destiny 2 players than other recent teasers like a strange audio file uploaded to Bungie's Twitter.

The Destiny Instagram account indicates this teaser ties back to "the next chapter of Destiny 2" that will be "unveiled" during its event on June 9. Players have been worried there might be a delay in Destiny 2's Year 4 plans due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but in the "This Week at Bungie" post, players were reassured that development is and will continue, and it seems Bungie is on the cusp of talking about what that ongoing work entails.

At the end of the teaser on Instagram, Bungie points to a page labeled Bungie.net/Reveal; however that page leads to a 404 error as of this writing. Eris Morn has been involved in the story of Destiny since the first game's The Dark Below expansion in 2014, so it should be interesting to see how the developers continue to build on her story in the future of Destiny 2.

While this new content is being planned and implemented into the game, Bungie is also preparing to release Destiny 2 on next-generation consoles once they become available. There are big changes they could make on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, but fans will have to wait and see what plans Bungie has in store.

In the meantime, players have the reveal of new content on June 9 to look forward to. Though some are already hesitant at the idea of Bungie sunsetting weapons in the upcoming season, there are sure to be plenty of reasons to keep up with Destiny 2 all the same.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
