One Destiny 2 Lightfall player presented a fairly scary theory relating to the recently added Cayde-6 memorial at The Tower, potentially indicating what's to come over the next year. Over the past 6 years, Destiny 2 has continued to evolve significantly, slowly adding major features like cross save, becoming available on Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as adding big features like weapon crafting. As a live service title, Bungie has continued to help keep things feeling fresh through new features and seasonal content.

The Lightfall expansion is no exception, and while it has been fairly divisive so far with many players over the narrative elements, the expansion has added an entirely new patrol zone on Neptune as well as the second darkness subclass called Strand. Fans have also seemingly been enjoying the many qualities of life updates like gear loadouts. The Tower even received a few tweaks as more alien races have taken up space in the zone as well as Cabal guards. However, many fans have taken to a new memorial put in place for the former hunter vanguard Cayde-6, complete with a statue and voice lines.

However, one Destiny 2 fan in particular has theorized that this memorial may be just the beginning if the narrative storyline continues to go down a darker path prior to The Last Shape expansion. A user named Galidor117 offer their thoughts on Reddit as to why, at this point in time, Cayde was given a memorial at all. The Forsaken expansion has been vaulted and Cayde's death happened nearly 5 years ago. Galidor117 speculated that this may only be the beginning, as the attention grabbing memorial appears to have plenty of space for more graves.

There were plenty in the comments who seemed to agree on this situation, with many assuming that Amanda Holliday, a character that has really stepped into the spotlight in the Season of Defiance, could be the next one to go, especially considering that she isn't a guardian and can't resurrect with the help of a Ghost. She's also an original Destiny character and beloved by many fans, while never really having been pushed into the lead character role before. It's possible that this year will see a lot of defeats for the Vanguard, potentially losing a couple of key characters throughout the upcoming few seasons before things finally come to a head next year with The Final Shape.

Other theories surrounding Amanda is that Bungie has already removed her role from the Tower, originally offering sparrows and ships, while being the Twitch rewards vendor as well. With Lightfall, that responsibility has fallen to the cryptarch Master Rahool, allowing Amanda to not only leave the Tower, but no longer having a true role as a NPC vendor. In addition, Amanda was even given a four-page lore book this season to further flesh out her character, and has a love interest in Crow, which is ironic considering it was him as Uldren Sov who ultimately helped kill Cayde-6, one of Amanda's dear friends.

Destiny 2: Lightfall is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
