It's a big day for Destiny 2 players as a massive new update arrived to refresh the current Season of Arrivals. Not only is it officially Bungie Day in honor of the seventh day of the seventh month, but Destiny 2 has received plenty of new rewards, updated patrol zones, and a chance to farm classic Raids as much as players want. The season has also kicked off the annual Moments of Triumph event with plenty of new rewards available for the taking.

For many players, the most exciting aspect of today's update is the brand new exotic quest, which leads players to the new Linear Fusion rifle known as Ruinous Effigy. This multistep process will take players all over the solar system from finishing the Interference mission on Io, taking down enemies with Void damage, and finding Calcified Light fragments on numerous locations like Io, Titan, Mars, and Mercury.

For many players, one of the trickiest parts of this quest is the third step known as Pendulum. It tasks players with hunting down enemies known as Savathun's Marionettes. Here's how to find them roaming inside of Destiny 2.

Where to Look

Players will need to head to Io and Titan for this part of the quest. Specifically, the marionettes will appear in patrol zones where the Contact Public Event isn't currently. So on Io, look for the symbol on the map to know which location to avoid. Typically the event alternates between Lost Oasis or The Rupture. On Titan, there are only three patrol zones, which makes it easy to know which location to avoid when the event is active.

For example, if the Contact event is active on Siren's Watch, players would want to look for marionettes in The Rig or Solarium.

However, players can also spawn potentially one marionette during the Heroic Contact public event, though this isn't the most efficient way to farm these enemies. Naturally, players need to trigger the Heroic modifier, which doesn't always happen. Plus, the length of this event makes this method not as efficient as searching for them. Taking out marionettes on patrol can net players anywhere from 7-12 marionette kills in roughly 10 minutes or less.

What To Do

The first thing to know is that Savathun's Marionettes are actually just Taken Champions. When on patrol, players will want to keep a look out for any Taken Blights or yellow bar enemies roaming around. In addition, players should keep an eye out for a small text prompt which appears in the bottom right indicating that Taken Blights are materializing nearby.

At this point, quickly take out the marionette to spawn the next phase of the event which again, features champion taken. Quickly kill them to kick off the third phase where more champions will spawn in. These typically resemble the Contact event bosses like the Howler. The events continue to pop up and flow from one encounter to the next making it much easier to kill 15 marionettes quickly.

Once the three phase event finishes, immediately head to a new zone to potentially spawn a new marionette encounter. On Titan, there are only two potential zones for this to happen in, which makes it much easier to predict where to go for a new encounter once the current one finishes.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
