Destiny 2 has a history of great lore and story content that Bungie has been building up for years, and as it stands, the current seasonal model offers the company a means to have these narrative arcs expand when it's time. As such, it makes sense that Savathun has been increasingly present in the events of the past few years, as The Witch Queen expansion will release in February of next year. Still, the Hive God of trickery has been a major player, especially in the Season of Arrivals and the Season of the Splicer. All sorts of rumors and theories about Savathun are now running rampant in preparation for Destiny 2's Season 15 as well as the upcoming expansion, with alleged leaks coming every now and then.
Savathun's role in the current Season is particularly interesting because it answered a few questions and posed many more. In fact, Destiny 2 players finally encountered and defeated Quria, the Taken Vex Mind under Savathun's control who was also responsible for the Dreaming City's three-week loop where the curse grew stronger. That specific connection is even mentioned by Ikora prior to the Guardian's fight against Quria and, combined with a few other reasons, it could make the Dreaming City the perfect place for Season 15's setting.
Savathun and Quria's Connection to the Dreaming City
The Dreaming City wasn't always cursed. Back when Forsaken launched, on September 4, 2018, the Dreaming City was in a state of normalcy that was broken when Guardians completed the Last Wish Raid for the very first time. That's when Riven, an ancient Ahamkara and the last living one of its kind, granted a wish that turned the Dreaming City into Taken territory. It was also looped in a cycle of three weeks with the help of a Vex Mind that was later identified as Quria.
Now that Quria was defeated in the Season of the Splicer, many Destiny 2 players thought that it would also affect the curse and its loop, and that soon the Dreaming City curse would finally be broken. However, there are a few possible reasons why this has not been the case yet, with the first and most noteworthy being that Quria might have survived the encounter with the Guardian, despite the Endless Night in the current Season is gradually dissipating. This should indicate that Quria is effectively gone, but it's also worth noting that she always was under the control of Savathun, and she is the master of manipulation and lies, meaning this could all be a ploy.
Regardless, with Quria seemingly dead, it would make sense for the Dreaming City's loop to fade in time. This is one of the reasons why Savathun's story could take her to the Dreaming City next Season, but it's not the only one.
Uldren Sov Becoming the Crow and What That Means
In Forsaken, players learned to despise Uldren Sov as the main villain of the campaign because he killed the beloved Hunter Vanguard Cayde-6. Uldren eventually met his demise, but that was not exactly the last of him. As a matter of fact, he was resurrected by a Ghost named Glint, and he was later rescued by the Spider because he believed Uldren could be useful to him. Not knowing his past name nor what he did or who he was, Uldren adopted the name Crow, as the Spider mockingly called him.
Crow has had an interesting year thus far, and he had a major role in the events of the Season of the Hunt and the Season of the Chosen, and eventually was freed from the Spider's web by the Guardian. At that point, the legendary Warlock Osiris made his move and convinced Crow to come back to the Last City and be the Guardian he was meant to be, all while wearing a mask to hide the prince's true identity. Crow was also pivotal in the Exotic quest for the Hawkmoon hand cannon, during which he dreamt about feathers that led the Guardian to an unknown shard of the Traveler. That's where Crow and the Guardian fought off the forces of Savathun herself, who seemingly watched them as they celebrated their victory.
Of course, Crow's presence can now be exploited in a way by Savathun to get to Uldren's sister, Mara Sov. That's why Crow heading to the Dreaming City next Season would be a big deal.
Mara Sov and Savathun: the Same Entity, Allies, or Enemies?
Mara Sov was considered to be Savathun by some fans, but because she is extremely powerful and complex it's very unlikely that she could turn out to be the Hive God. After all, Mara Sov even tried to defend the universe from the Darkness' arrival and stated that she would at last return to the Dreaming City, even if Savathun was waiting for her.
The two characters seem to be deeply linked based on lore entries, even though their relationship is never fully explained, and it could be that there will be some sort of confrontation between them soon enough. One of the reasons why Mara couldn't possibly be Savathun is that she has a will so powerful that she created a whole city out of it. She also managed to create her own logic for gaining power in the universe, which is not too different from the Hive's Sword Logic. Still, Mara's message could warrant for Season 15 to be the one where she comes back and has to indeed face the Hive God.
The 15th Wish, Season 15, and the Importance of 3
Ever since the introduction of the Last Wish Raid, Destiny 2 players have been excited about the puzzles it entails and the fact that there could be another hidden secret to be found somewhere. As a matter of fact, the Last Wish features the Wall of Wishes, and there are currently fourteen Wishes available. There was a Triumph associated with the 15th Wish that was vaulted by Bungie, and no one ever discovered what that was all about.
However, Bungie is known to have things like that linger for a long time before actually delivering, and when it comes to the 15th Wish, there is no better time to reveal what it was than Season 15. There are a lot of meaningful numbers in Destiny 2, and there is obvious importance to the number 3 and its multiples. Factoring in that Season 15 is also going to be released very close to the third anniversary since the launch of Forsaken, it would make a lot of sense for it to be the one where the secret behind the 15th Wish is finally revealed.
