Part of the roadmap for the newly begun Season of Opulence includes the exotic Lumina Quest, which begins on July 2nd. And newly datamined information from Destiny 2 appears to show that the quest will let players get their hands on The Rose, a hand cannon that is one of the most famous weapons in Destiny lore and the precursor to Thorn.

In the lore of Destiny, the story of Thorn and The Last Word and their wielders Dredgen Yor and Shin Malphur is perhaps the most popular. More of this lore made its way out of the text and into the game over this past year as those two weapons returned to the sequel and the Season of the Drifter revealed more about them. In the lore, the fallen Guardian Dredgen Yor imbued his original weapon known as The Rose with Darkness to transform it into Thorn. Fans of the lore have hoped that one day The Rose would make its way into the game, and it looks like that is finally happening.

If these leaks prove to be true, major spoilers about this Destiny 2 quest follow. According to the datamined information, which comes from the Reddit user Ginsor, players will undergo a pretty long quest that starts by sending them to find the original Thorn. After finding Thorn, players will purify it to create the hand cannon Rose.

The quest steps require players to use The Rose to accomplish numerous tasks including completing a Nightfall with a score of 50,000 points or higher, finishing Blind Well, Black Armory forges, or Escalation Protocol encounters, and defeating Xol in the "Will of the Thousands" strike, among other tasks.

Similar to how The Rose underwent a transformation to become Thorn, it appears that the final reward of the quest will be another transformation of the fabled hand cannon, most likely into Lumina, the name of the quest and assumed name of the exotic that will come from it. Or perhaps The Rose will be the final reward with Lumina just being the name of the quest. The quest and the exotic are currently completely hidden in the database, so players have to wait a few weeks until they know for sure.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
