Destiny 2's Season of the Seraph is in full swing, with the third weekly part of the More Than a Weapon quest having been released for all players. Unique to this week is a new pulse rifle, Revision Zero, that can be obtained through an Exotic quest provided by the Holoprojector. While not time-gated like last year's Presage mission and classics such as Whisper and Zero Hour missions, Destiny 2's grind for Revision Zero may be more tedious than desired. If so, this could lead players to wonder if the Exotic is worth it.

Destiny 2's Revision Zero Exotic quest will see players infiltrating a Bray Orbital Station to introduce a virus to the system before agents of House Salvation can obtain crucial information. Once accomplished, Guardians accept the Exotic in question, albeit with a Deepsight Resonance tracker. Deepsight Resonance and crafting were introduced in The Witch Queen expansion and contained missions and rewards for enhancing the weapons, much like with the Exotic SMG Osteo Striga.

How to Get Revision Zero

The quest to obtain Revision Zero is heavily tied to the story in Season of the Seraph, meaning players will have to progress through the first two weeks of More Than a Weapon to begin Week 3's required looting of a Seraph Chest. Once that is accomplished, interacting with the Holoprojector near the Exo Frame in the H.E.L.M. will provide a quest called The Hidden Shape - the Exotic mission that will allow Destiny 2 players to get Revision Zero.

The first part of The Hidden Shape will have players launch from the H.E.L.M. the so-called Operation: Seraph's Shield, and the quest begins like similar missions. However, players eventually venture into space to complete the remaining investigation. Once aboard the Clovis Bray Orbital Station, Guardians will find themselves against an array of enemies and need to solve different puzzles to proceed through the station.

Using mechanics from the Deep Stone Crypt Raid, these puzzles involve obtaining augments from enemies, such as Scanners and Operator protocols to view terminals and interfaces that glow to proceed to the next area. To get the Exotic, all players must do is finish Operation: Seraph's Shield on Normal difficulty, then proceed back to the H.E.L.M. to interact with the Exo Frame. A Hidden Agent will speak to players, and the Revision Zero pulse rifle with the Deepsight Resonance version will be rewarded.

Crafting and Upgrading Revision Zero

The final step in The Hidden Shape is to craft Revision Zero at the Relic in the Enclave on Mars. Players can either break down the red-bordered Exotic or Attune it to extract the material. Nevertheless, Shaping Revision Zero is pretty straightforward once one of these options is done. Once shaped, players need to visit the Relic Conduit (next to the Relic), and this will complete the mission.

Revision Zero and its crafting capabilities appear to be Bungie's new approach to Exotic weapons in The Witch Queen and Lightfall, which releases next year. In addition to leveling the gun for more perks, players can obtain different catalysts by completing other quests that Bungie releases throughout the remainder of Season of the Seraph. From what can be gleaned, there are four intrinsic levels for Hunter's Trace needed to upgrade new barrels, magazines, traits, and stocks.

From the information provided by Bungie and other data mining methods, the catalyst for Frenzy Refit, for example, won't be available until step 32 in More Than a Weapon. The current step that ends Week 3 for that quest is step 25, indicating that each Week will see more catalysts released with related quests and activities. Once the weapon is shaped, however, players can level the gun up as usual by using or having it equipped during combat and other Destiny 2 activities.

What Makes Revision Zero's Grid Worth it and What Doesn't

While many players enjoy Operation: Seraph's Shield, the planned release and associated quests for additional catalysts could make the grind feel like a chore. Because players need to Attune or extract the weapon pattern, shape it, and then level the gun up for other intrinsic attributes, the overall procedure may be tiresome when factoring in additional work. This is especially true since the Dawning Event is still active, with a little over one week left until it ends.

While the answer to the grind being worth it depends on how much time players can dedicate to Destiny 2, it has been noted that the new approach to the Exotic quest, along with the switch up to the Seasonal activity, has invigorated many gamers. This is especially true due to the fatigue many Guardians felt with Season of Plunder. For Season of the Seraph, it appears Bungie listened to player feedback to offer variety in its quests rather than farming specific missions repeatedly.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
