With the beloved Hunter Vanguard Cayde-6 meeting his tragic end in Destiny 2: Forsaken’s first story mission, it seems Bungie crafted one more quest for fans to pay tribute to the loveable Exo. Rumors of the “Cayde’s Spicy Ramen” quest have been running wild on Reddit and the Bungie forums, but now it seems that a consumable item relating to the quest has appeared in the database, giving fans some clues as to how the quest will play out.
Many fans speculate that this hidden Destiny 2 quest will start up at the end of the Solstice of Heroes event, as the quest icon in the database shows the Solstice sun logo. The quest may also go live in the week between Solstice of Heroes and the launch of Forsaken, since Bungie may need to give players something to work toward while they finish prepping for the launch of the next big expansion.
The quest details that come with this consumable tell players to go to the ramen shop in the tower, presumably referring to the one located right behind Ikora Rey in the Bazaar. While there are no more quest details outside of redeeming the long-expired ramen coupon, the item description pays a touching homage to Cayde-6. The item description perfectly captures Cayde’s witty and peculiar sense of humor that many fans will miss after the Solstice of Heroes grind is over.
The item description also pokes fun at the Destiny 2 fans who believed Cayde would make a return as Cayde-7, despite all lore indications that Exo models do not get rebooted when they die. Exo units are rebooted and wiped periodically during their life cycle to avoid death, not to be resurrected. Unfortunately, Cayde-7 will likely not be making an appearance and players will have to cherish what time they have left with Cayde-6, including this humorous and heartwarming quest, before the new Hunter Vanguard steps in to carry the torch.
Destiny 2: Forsaken launches September 4 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
