Destiny 2’s Vault of Glass raid has been live for a little while now, with Guardians finding more and more ways to defeat Atheon quickly. With the upcoming Master difficulty of Vault of Glass in Destiny 2, Guardians may want to look into a current raid mod that may make Master difficulty Atheon a little easier to defeat.

The Superstructure Defender raid mod can be found in the Vault of Glass hidden chests. This mod has seen little use but may just be a vital piece for the upcoming Master difficulty of Vault of Glass. Currently, it is allowing Guardians to easily one-phase Atheon in Destiny 2.

The Vault of Glass’ Superstructure Defender mod sockets into Void Armor at the cost of 1 Energy. This mod is active while standing on a sync plate or near a conflux in Destiny 2's Vault of Glass, and weapon attacks that hit powerful Vex combatants have a high chance to weaken those combatants. Guardians can socket multiple copies of this mod to stack its effect and increase the chances of weakening a Vex enemy.

The Superstructure Defender mod in Destiny 2 works against Atheon, allowing one Guardian to weaken Atheon, increasing the damage dealt by the rest of the fireteam by 30%. This also stacks with other damage modifiers like the seasonal mod Breach and Clear or a Titan’s Weapons of Light Ward of Dawn bubble. Adding all these things together can make for a massively increased damage modifier of up to 151% with the Power of Rasputin Warmind Cell mod.

While all that sounds great, how does it work? The Destiny 2 Guardian running the Superstructure Defender should stack four mods leaving room for an Exotic. Destiny 2's Anarchy with the Breach and Clear Seasonal mod is the best here as each damage tick has a chance to apply the Superstructure Defender debuff on Atheon. This Guardian will stand on the sync plate behind the portal during the damage phase and use Anarchy to damage the boss.

A bubble titan should drop a Weapons of Light bubble at the portal inside Atheon’s room, allowing their fireteam to grab the Weapons of Light buff as they go through the portal to deal damage. Whoever is carrying the relic should drop it in front of the sync plate so it may be picked up by the Guardian on the Sync plate. Guardians will do damage on the stairs with a Well of Radiance.

With the buff from Well of Radiance, the debuff from Breach and Clear, and the debuff from Superstructure Defender, Fireteams should be able to quickly defeat Atheon in a single damage phase. Guardians should use whatever damage strats work best for their Fireteams, however, this strategy may very well become standard for many Destiny 2 Fireteams.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
