It’s the last week for Destiny 2 Leviathan raid challenges, which means that it is finally time for Calus. It didn’t take long for players to deduce how to complete the Calus challenge in the raid, but completing it is going to require a competent team of Destiny 2 players.

The Calus Challenge

To complete the Calus challenge in Destiny 2, the team will need to activate all four damage plates at once during each damage phase. With fewer plates to work with, time is limited when it comes to damaging Calus, so optimal DPS and weapon choices are going to be paramount.

The good news is that Destiny 2 players can stack two players on two of the plates; so those “partners” can use class abilities to their advantage. If you have a Titan and a Warlock, we recommend partnering them together and using an Empowering Rift and a Rally Barricade to generate as much sustained damage as possible. Ideally, the two players (and every player for that matter) will want to use the Curtain Call Rocket Launcher for quick damage and the fast reload of the barricade.

On the surface, the Calus challenge may not seem too difficult, but it will be for some teams. The real challenge of this encounter is that it forces teams to go through two or three damage phases, depending on their Force of Will buff. If the team can regularly get Force of Will x100+ then there shouldn’t be a problem finishing Calus in two phases.

However, if killing skulls is a problem then it might require additional damage phases and more opportunities for the Throne Room players to get killed by Majors or the Shadow Realm players to get bumped over the “railing” by Psions. Where the Calus Challenge may pose the biggest problem is the Prestige version of the Destiny 2 raid, which forces players to swap roles and face tougher enemies. In Prestige, the only comfort is the fact that if the team can get to the damage phase they can typically kill Calus in one round. However, this challenge is set up in a way that forces teams to go multiple rotations and thus they need to survive for longer. And since the Prestige rewards aren’t anything special, it will be interesting to see how many teams even attempt the challenge.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
