Destiny 2 players are meticulously thorough regarding their precious weapons, and one player has crunched the numbers to find out how an Exotic weapon is dealing less damage than intended, on top of being bugged in the first place. Bugged weapons aren't a new phenomenon in Destiny 2, and to Bungie's credit, the studio has always shipped out patches quite hastily. However, the launch of Destiny 2's Lightfall expansion may have caused some new bugs to pop up that weren't present during playtesting.

Destiny 2: Lightfall sees Guardians venture into the hidden city of Neomuna, to defend it against the forces of Vex, Taken, and Shadow Legion. Upon entering Neomuna, players are greeted by the Cloud Striders, who use incredible augmentations to traverse and defend the city with relative ease. Neomuna's technology is beyond anything created during the Golden Age, which is reflected through the Exotic Auto Rifle, Quicksilver Storm. Available to players who preordered Destiny 2: Lightfall, Quicksilver Storm rose to infamy due to its exceptional lethality in PvP and had to be disabled until Bungie fixed the damage output.

When Lightfall launched, Quicksilver Storm became available to acquire for all players who purchased the expansion, but the excitement over the weapon quickly came to a halt. Bungie revealed in an official tweet that Quicksilver Storm was bugged and wasn't receiving the intended 40% damage buff against rank-and-file enemies. One meticulous Destiny 2 player tested the weapon and posted their findings on Reddit. User YsanneDRG presented their test results with damage numbers on the social media website, showcasing that Quicksilver Storm was dealing around 15% less damage across the board.

YsanneDRG used several conditions during their testing to achieve clean damage values. For the test, all weapons were on 1600 power level, had no damage-augmenting mods, fired at close distances for no damage falloff, and were of the same archetype. In normal circumstances, Exotic Primary weapons receive a standard 40% damage buff against red bar enemies over Legendary weapons. In its current bugged state, Quicksilver Storm should be dealing the same amount of damage as Legendary Auto Rifles, which simply isn't the case. While Bungie is aware of the first bug, players will be anxiously waiting for the studio to fix the additional damage nerf before Destiny 2's next raid launches.

From disjointed narrative directions to even rumors of a Destiny 2 filler DLC, Lightfall is facing a tough time ahead of it. Players can expect to hear from Bungie regarding potential fixes and patches in the next couple of days before the highly anticipated raid launch. For now, players will have to make do with other weapons in their quest to defeat The Witness.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
