A long-standing criticism from many in the Destiny 2 community is how stagnant some of the PvE-centric playlists currently feel, and one player has some ideas on how Bungie can give it the refresh these players have been looking for. The PvE activity typically at the center of these criticisms have been the game's many Strikes, with the base versions offering similar gameplay experiences and notable modifiers only coming into play in Nightfall and Grandmaster Nightfall strikes. While Bungie has been able to keep the overall Vanguard Playlist current with the addition of older Battleground activities, many players still want to see the studio bring a breath of fresh air to the strike experience.

Destiny 2 is currently in the final season of content for year 5, titled Season of the Seraph, which looks to set the proverbial table for the experience awaiting players in 2023's Lightfall expansion. The season sees Guardians work with Ana Bray, Elsie Bray, Clovis Bray, Mara Sov, and Osiris to reform Rasputin, the AI Warmind which has been dormant since Season of Arrivals. However, The Witness' forces are also making a play for Rasputin's dormant weapons and data, with Xivu Arath's forces pushing into Rasputin's abandoned facilities to try and claim these spoils.

While the season brought with it new activities and loot for players to grind for, many players were disappointed that it was yet another season where Bungie did not refresh the Strikes populating the core PvE activity playlist. Reddit user Ladmode decided to take the opportunity to address this directly, suggesting a new swath of unique modifiers spread across the Nightfall, Grandmaster Nightfall, and Vanguard playlists could be the shot in the arm players have been asking for. The modifiers Ladmode suggests in their post would create more synergy among enemy units, enemies dropping more loot, and encourage players to be more mobile during engagements.

Ladmode didn't stop there, either, saying an increased focus on modifiers could potentially be spun into an entirely new playlist which could serve as the PvE-equivalent to Crucible Labs. Lad's idea would allow Bungie to try out potential new ideas, such as a tower defense activity, and rotate it out with other experimental activities. However, Lad notes these ideas would likely take some time to introduce if Bungie were to explore this kind of PvE refresh.

It is hardly the first time Bungie has had to deal with criticism of activities feeling underwhelming or repetitive, though some within the Destiny 2 community are more vocal about these issues when it involves the core activity playlists. Some players have argued Strikes, in particular, are long overdue for a refresh as the core gameplay experience hasn't seen any notable change since Destiny 2 released in 2017. While Battlegrounds have been able to help break this up, Ladmode's suggestions could serve as a template for a long-term solution to player criticism going forward.

Destiny 2 is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
