Bungie introduced Destiny 2's Prophecy Dungeon back in June of this year. However, the developer removed it in preparation for the then-upcoming Beyond Light expansion. Apparently, adding Beyond Light on top of all of the content Destiny 2 had at the time would have made it challenging to manage the game properly. That said, Bungie stated that Prophecy Dungeon wouldn't be gone forever, but it also didn't provide an exact date for when it would return. Now, it has.

Bungie calls the update bringing Prophecy Dungeon back "Update 3.0.1." The developer didn't disclose everything that the update would entail in its latest Destiny 2 twab, but it did flesh out everything related to the activity. It also reiterated that Update 3.0.1 would officially bring about PS5 and Xbox Series versions of Destiny 2. As it stands right now, both next-gen consoles can play the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game using their backward compatibility features, but they don't have their own versions to play.

Regarding Prophecy Dungeon, it will make its triumphant return to the game on December 8, meaning it arrives on the next weekly Tuesday update. The activity will retain all of the rewards that it originally had, allowing participants to earn them upon reaching checkpoints. Players will be able to tackle the dungeon once every week, and completing it will earn them pinnacle-powered rewards. Plus, just like it was originally, the activity is free to play for everyone.

Iron Banner will also arrive on the same day as the update, and it'll go live sometime afterward. This Iron Banner will be the first one to allow players to run around with their new Stasis classes. However, the downside is that the event will feature the same armor sets and weapons that have appeared in previous runs. So it isn't offering anything new. It does provide a quick way to level up, though.

Overall, Destiny players have a lot to look forward to next week. The most exciting of the arrivals would probably have to be the Destiny 2 PS5 and Xbox Series updates, at least for those who were lucky enough to get their hands on the consoles. Otherwise, players have been anticipating the Prophecy Dungeon's return ever since it left. It was one of Destiny 2's more popular events due to its availability. The activity's return also just adds a "new" end-game activity for guardians to grind, even if it is only once a week.

Destiny 2 is now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
