The Curse of Osiris DLC is now available for Destiny 2, and while some Guardians are excited to dive into more content, others are upset with the way Bungie is handling the expansion. As it turns out, playing the Leviathan raid on Prestige difficulty is no longer possible for vanilla Destiny 2 players, as the content now requires the Curse of Osiris DLC.

Understandably, many fans aren't happy about being locked out of content they previously had access to, and have been airing their grievances on social media. Bungie itself has yet to release a statement on the matter, so it remains to be seen if these fan complaints will result in any changes in the game, or if fans will just have to purchase the Curse of Osiris DLC if they want to play the Leviathan raid on Prestige difficulty again.

By locking vanilla Destiny 2 players out of the Leviathan raid's Prestige difficulty, Bungie is sending the message that players that don't purchase expansions will not only miss out on new content, but will be locked out of old content as well. Many Destiny 2 enthusiasts were likely planning on buying the Curse of Osiris DLC, but may change their minds as a way to rebel against Bungie's controversial decision.

Other Destiny 2 fans won't be able to resist the chance to jump into some new content, regardless of any questionable decisions by Bungie. Since launch, Destiny 2 fans have been chomping at the bit for substantial new content to explore, and the Curse of Osiris expansion gives them that opportunity. It comes loaded with new story missions, new weapons and armor, and plenty more for Destiny 2 fans to sink their teeth into.

However, even the most dedicated Destiny 2 fans will likely be disappointed in Bungie's decision. It effectively segments the game's community, and isolates those that either can't afford to or simply don't want to upgrade their vanilla game. And since this Prestige raid controversy is just the latest in a number of potentially anti-consumer choices on the part of Bungie, it may help to damage the Destiny brand for future releases.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
