Players have spent countless hours on Destiny 2 ever since it was released last month, thus it isn't too surprising to hear that many have already hit the game's power cap of 300. But according to the shooter's director Luke Smith, the number of people who have hit the level cap is far higher than Bungie expected.

In a new interview with EDGE, Smith revealed that "an extremely high percentage" of Destiny 2 players have finished the campaign and managed to hit the 300 level cap, a data point that surprised even the development team, who didn't expect such a "shocking amount of players" to have accomplished both milestones. Compared to the complaints about the original Destiny's endgame leveling system, Smith's reveal is a testament to the improvements Bungie has made in order to keep players interested in playing.

"An extremely high percentage of players have both finished the campaign and reached the level cap. Like, a shocking number of players. I think that’s a really interesting data point, and the team should be really proud of that. It means that, when people enter the world, they’re sticking around."

Having said that, Destiny 2's endgame isn't perfect, as there are still complaints about how the endgame is shaping up, but it certainly appears that Bungie is taking steps to address fan concerns about upcoming content. Not only has the game's first Iron Banner just gone live for console players, the studio has also teased the upcoming implementation of a number of new game modes such as the Leviathan Raid Challenges and the Prestige raid.

Still, the fact that a higher-than-expected number of players have hit Destiny 2's level cap shows that Bungie has listened to all the fan feedback from the first game in order to create a better experience. With Bungie even asking fans for suggestions for Destiny 2's first expansion pack, this continual feedback loop will only mean good things for the game in the months to come.

Destiny 2 is available now for PS4 and Xbox One, and releases on October 24, 2017 for PC.
