Destiny 2 adds its only ritual weapon for Season of the Worthy in the form of the Legendary bow Point of the Stag, which is available for the first time this week during Iron Banner. It is earned through the Iron Banner quest, the same quest that will unlock the armor set for Iron Banner. It is a bit of a grind to get, but is Point of the Stag worth it?

To start, Point of the Stag has a unique combination of perks, just as all curated ritual weapons are in Destiny 2. It is a Precision Frame bow with Elastic String, Natural Fletching, a choice between No Distractions and Archer's Tempo, and a choice between Vorpal Weapon and Eye of the Storm.

Is Point of the Stag good?

Point of the Stag is interesting because as a bow it is not the most competitive weapon type in Season of the Worthy. Bows are not the most popular weapon type in the game, and players will have to judge for themselves how much they like bows based on their own preferences. This bow will not change whatever that preference is despite its unique perk set.

And it does have a unique perk, namely in Vorpal Weapon. In PvE, Vorpal Weapon gives the usual damage buff to bosses and major enemies, which can function well as a damage perk in PvE for players who enjoy using bows in PvE. But Vorpal Weapon is uniquely balanced for PvP with the perk dealing 60% extra damage to enemies in their Super. This can almost one-shot a Gunslinger Hunter in Golden Gun, while taking down other Supers with either two headshots or three body shots.

For the first perk choice, it is recommended to use Archer's Tempo instead of No Distractions. Although No Distractions is a unique perk to appear on Point of the Stag, it takes time for No Distractions to activate after aiming down sights and is not nearly as useful as Archer's Tempo, which is a very good perk for bows.

Is Point of Stag worth the grind?

Now knowing what makes Point of the Stag unique, players will need to decide for themselves based on that and their own preference for bows if it will be worth grinding Iron Banner. This bow is not so powerful that it will change anyone's mind about bows in general. There are already some really good bows in the game, such as Hush or Le Monarque, and Point of the Stag has a pretty niche application that it might not be worth it for some players.

However, Point of the Stag unlocks after completing the fifth step of the Iron Banner quest, so if players are already planning to grind through the Iron Banner quest to unlock the Armor 2.0 Iron Remembrance set, they will automatically unlock it along the way. It takes at least 15 completed matches to get, which will take at least two and a half hours of playtime to do.

So, yes, if players are willing to play some Iron Banner, they will pretty easily unlock the bow along the way. While it is not a top-tier weapon, it may be very worth it for collectors and for those who like bows. Unfortunately, this weapon did not come out in Season of Dawn, as it was originally planned to, which it would have gotten the benefit in PvE to be able to slot in seasonal bow perks for Anti-Barrier and Unstoppable Rounds. And, as mentioned, it is the only ritual weapon in the game in Season of the Worthy.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
