If there's one thing that the Destiny 2 community excels at, it's pushing the game to, and even far beyond, the limits of what its complex set of mechanics lets them do. To that end, there seems to be nothing that players love to do more to test those limits than to jump into the 6-person raid encounters on their own, and walk out with the win.

A player by the name of Esoterickk recently took to Destiny 2's Last Wish raid from 2018's Forsaken expansion and managed to complete the final two encounters on his own. This isn't the first time that the final boss, Riven, has been soloed, as dunking on this encounter and the entire raid has been an always-extending measuring stick for top players since it released.

In the case of Esoterickk's solo run on the final Riven encounter, completing the final section involving carrying Riven's heart through to the end requires a specific exploit surrounding the fight's central mechanic. Specifically, when a player carries Riven's heart, they are given a time limit before being sent inside the heart. Normally, a solo player would run out of time well before the end of the encounter, get stuck in the heart, and they would fail. However, using a newer Destiny 2 mechanic that was added after Last Wish initially launched, content creator Esoterickk is able to return from inside the heart immediately, without having to "pass" the heart off to another player.

By using a finisher, a special type of attack that plays out a specified animation when defeating a weakened enemy, Esoterickk is able to teleport back out of the heart to finish the kill. All they needed to do was ensure that an enemy was weak and the finisher was active, and then time it so that they don't stay inside the heart for more than a second. This opens up a number of new raid farming options for any other players with the skills and gear to pull off the solo run.

For most players, this may be nothing more than a flex by players like Esoterickk who revel in going through some of the most intense tests of skill for the bragging rights. The content creator even admits that the method is difficult and requires lots of setup and RNG. However, plenty of Destiny 2 fans will likely see this and figure out a new way to one-up this achievement in a matter of weeks, by either completing the entire raid solo, or finishing the encounter as all three classes. It's a never-ending cycle for players in the top tier of the community, jumping into raids, new and old, or nightfalls and completing them with their own individual hindrances placed on themselves.
