Destiny 2 has undergone several changes throughout this year, with things like the Armor Synthesis system being added and the narrative becoming more engaging, with lots of foreshadowing that led to Osiris being revealed as Savathun. Arguably, the gameplay has changed a lot as well, with plenty of fine-tuning fixes and balancing patches being delivered both with new Seasons launching and mid-Season as well. Destiny 2's artifact mods like Breach and Clear or Particle Deconstruction really had an impact on the meta, and the sandbox shifting towards more gunplay restructured the foundations of the game.
It's not a mystery that Hunters got the short end of the stick in Bungie's update with the 30th Anniversary Pack launch, and that's because several things that made them strong were nerfed. Many abilities have had their cooldowns go up and others were reworked to be less oppressive in PvP, which is something that ended up affecting Destiny 2's PvE sandbox as well. The prime example of this is the increased cooldown on both Marksman's Dodge and Gambler's Dodge, which went from 11 seconds to 14 seconds on cooldown for the former and from 11 seconds to 18 for the latter, considering T10 Mobility.
This killed the Hunters' potential in PvE more than anything else, considering many builds rely on either Dodge to function properly. However, a Reddit user by the name of NaughtyGaymer shared a post about how Hunters can still offer one of the most competitive damage outputs in Destiny 2 by using Stasis, a well-rolled Reed's Regret, and Elemental Well mods. This is achieved by using three copies of Font of Might, Elemental Time Dilation, and Supreme Wellmaker as a source of Elemental Wells.

Elemental Time Dilation and three copies of Font of Might make the latter's buff last for 21 seconds, and with Supreme Wellmaker generating three Stasis Wells upon using a Super, players can get the buff to last up to 40 seconds by picking a second Well later. With a Reed's Regret rolled with Triple Tap, Destiny 2 players will be able to sustain DPS for a very long time, especially if they use Marksman's Dodge to reload their weapon immediately. This can be done two more times for free by using Withering Blades paired with the Stasis Fragment called Whisper of Impetus, which reloads stowed weapons on hit with melee attacks.
The 30th Anniversary Pack changes to Destiny 2's Hunters left players unhappy with their state, considering the class already was somewhat penalized in PvE compared to Warlocks and Titans. That's why this DPS build is such a breath of fresh air in a meta where it's even hard to find a place for Hunters in endgame content.
