The source behind the memory leak that's been causing trouble for Destiny 2 players may have been discovered. Various players have been reporting that the memory leak is directly linked to Clans.

This revelation was eventually brought to the attention of the Community Manager at Bungie, Cozmo, through his Twitter account. He has since confirmed that this information has been passed on to the team investigating the issue.

According to reports, Destiny 2 players who encounter the memory leak are experiencing choppy gameplay and screen tearing. Those who leave their Clans have said it immediately remedies the issue, while rejoining the Clan causes the symptoms to flare up again. This could mean the cause of the memory leak is directly related to Clans, or it could be coincidental. Since Bungie has yet to confirm the source, leaving a Clan appears to be the only viable solution for the time being.

In other Destiny 2 news, Bungie has confirmed it is planning to overhaul the rewards system for loot after players complained they weren't sufficiently being compensated for their efforts. Bungie wants to increase rewards for strikes, adventures, and Lost Sectors, since Public Events offer much of the same loot with less time commitment. Prestige activities are also a focus of the change, which will come as a relief to those leaving the raid with nothing but Calus Tokens to show for it.

In short, Bungie agrees with the community on loot: greater challenges deserve greater rewards. How quickly this system will go into place, however, is unclear. A new season is set to kick off in December, but these changes may not be ready to go by then.

A wave of bans recently hit Destiny 2 in an effort to combat players who were using tools that posed a threat to the ecosystem of the game. Bungie made a statement on the matter, clearing up any misconceptions that players who use recording tools were banned. The studio confirmed the game itself wasn't banning players, but that it was conducting manual investigations so there would no errors.

There were errors, however, and some PC players were accidentally hit with the ban hammer. Those players have since been unbanned, according to Bungie.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
