Despite strong beliefs and mounting evidence that Destiny 2 would be coming to PC, a new job posting suggests that may not be the case.

High Moon Studios, the studio behind the Transformers Cybertron series and now one of the studios helping Bungie with Destiny, has posted a job listing for the presumed Destiny sequel. In the posting, High Moon reveals that it is looking for a mission designer that is proficient in a number of areas, and is passionate about the Destiny franchise. The post also mentions that prospective employees should be prepared to work on PS4 and Xbox One

Although a job posting is no smoking gun, it’s interesting to note that the High Moon listing doesn’t mention PC. Could be that the developer, which is only helping Bungie work on Destiny 2, is focusing its efforts on PS4 and Xbox One development, or it’s also possible that the PC version is just a port of the console versions.

It’s also worth considering that Destiny 2 might be a delayed release on PC, not unlike Grand Theft Auto 5 or numerous Ubisoft titles last-gen, and the focus is on the console versions right now. We know from a recent Activision earnings call that Destiny 2 is still on track for its 2017 release, but it’s unclear how “under the wire” the sequel will arrive. If Bungie doesn’t have enough time, it’s entirely possible that the studio made the decision to delay the PC version until a later date, perhaps early 2018.

Of course, this is all speculation at this point, and the rumors only exist because Bungie and Activision have kept relatively quiet on what the big plans are for Destiny 2. We know that the sequel will be a full reset for players and will not carry over any gear or levels, and that the story will be more cinematic in nature, but those are the only meaningful details that the game’s publisher and developer have been willing to share. Gamers don’t even know if Destiny 2 is the official title yet.

Hopefully things will clear up soon, as the clock is ticking and the months are running out. No doubt Destiny 2 will have a huge presence at E3 2017, but that puts only a few months between reveal and release. Will we hear more from Bungie sooner than that? And will they finally put to rest questions about a PC version?

Destiny 2 is slated to release in 2017 for PS4 and Xbox One. No PC version has been confirmed yet.
