It's a big week for Destiny 2 players as Season of the Drifter has officially alongside the first pieces of new content. In addition to new game modes like Gambit Prime and Reckoning getting added for Annual Pass owners, the game has also received new seasonal quests and gear to keep players busy over the next few months. In addition to the content, Bungie also released update 2.2.0 to improve and fix a number of game issues, though it appears to have also provided some players with a big, unintentional damage buff.

Once again, Content Creator Gladd is sharing this discovery, having also recently put a spotlight on a trick that enabled PC players to increase Hunter movement speed and enabled them to basically fly across zones. In this case, however, it was discovered that equipping the One Thousand Voices exotic fusion rifle adds a 25% damage buff to both primary and secondary weapon slots.

Running a test on the Leviathan Raid, Gladd noted the damage of his hand cannon without the buff at 746. At that point, he equipped the exotic fusion rifle and saw his hand cannon damage jump to 918. After swapping his heavy weapon back to the Bad Omens rocket launcher, the damage slid back down to 746. It appears that the 25% damage buff that Bungie gave the One Thousand Voices also applies to every weapon equipped alongside it.

It's worth noting that this issue only currently affects the PvE side of the game and won't harm the competitive balance inside of PvP modes like the Crucible. However, with Gambit Prime putting players against each other while facing AI enemies, this unintended buff gives the team with 1K equipped an advantage. It's unlikely that Bungie lets this damage buff stand for too long, especially considering that the latest Destiny 2 season has just begun.

While also providing an unintentional damage boost, Update 2.2.0 also brought a lot of changes to the sandbox including weapon adjustments, a reduction in reserve ammo for both the Sleeper Simulant and Whisper of the Worm, and increasing the power cap to 700. Year 2 armor now has randomized perks, making them more viable than they were previously and the Clan system received a substantial rework to be more rewarding for players who are taking part each week. The new season has brought a lot of change and content with it, which should go a long way to keeping the fanbase satisfied for now.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
