Destiny 2 allows players to experience different game modes in both Pve and PvP, where some guns and abilities perform significantly better or worse depending on the situation. This is one of the reasons why Destiny 2 players want separate PvE and PvP sandboxes so that Bungie can differentiate buffs, nerfs, and changes appropriately, which is already happening to a certain degree. With the latest sandbox patch and the upcoming one scheduled for the release of the 30th Anniversary Pack, Bungie has already shown that it's possible to make targeted changes to things like Shatterdive, where it's going to be widely buffed in PvE and nerfed in PvP.

PvP is often where some guns and abilities in Destiny 2 become more problematic, considering that anything that's over-tuned will quickly become popular. Such is the case of Lorentz Driver, an Exotic linear fusion rifle that comes with Season of the Lost's Season Pass. The gun was an extremely common pick in PvP at the beginning of the Season, to the point that Bungie had to nerf it to bring more in line with other options.

Despite the nerfs, Lorentz Driver remained a very valuable asset in many PvP scenarios for players who are consistently hitting headshots, as the Exotic then causes an implosion that deals AoE damage. A Reddit user by the name of Parzival-IX shared a slowed-down clip of a PvP match where they were one-shot by a Lorentz Driver headshot even though they dodged out of its trajectory. This is not the first time players complain about something similar, and while it's true that Lorentz Driver does have high aim assistance, this is mostly caused by differences in connection speed between two players.

It's very likely that the Lorentz Driver user did land a headshot on their screen, which explains the possibility of the Hunter Dodging out of it lagging on their end. However, this case poses a great question about what is going to happen starting next Tuesday, when Hunters' Dodge won't be breaking aim assistance anymore, regardless of lag. At that point, Destiny 2 weapons like Lorentz Driver that have inherently high aim assistance will likely be great counters to Hunters in PvP.

If that is the case, then it's possible that Lorentz Driver will need another revision from Bungie, and so will the Hunters' Dodge. On the bright side, Destiny 2's December update could make a Hunter subclass OP - namely, the Arcstrider - thanks to its new OHK ability in the form of the Flux Grenade, as well as Tier 3 Super regeneration speed.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
