Bungie surprised fans with a brand new Destiny 2: Beyond Light trailer today. It features cryptic shots, a narrative voiceover by Eramis, and overtly teases something big to be revealed tomorrow, October 7.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light news has been ramping up lately as there is much to cover in the month leading up to the release. Fans have been given detailed rundowns of new systems like Ghost mods, glimpses at new pieces of loot, as well as gameplay footage of the new Stasis subclasses.

This trailer is more of a teaser for an upcoming reveal that is right around the corner. The whole video is full of minimalist panning shots accompanied by a narration from Eramis, Kell of Darkness. From all the marketing material that has been shown so far, she is the primary antagonist of Beyond Light, and will be challenging players' prowess in the Light with brand new Dark powers.

In her broadcast, she makes a call to her brethren in a seeming gesture to unite them under the banner of Darkness. Interestingly, she dubs Europa "home," indicating that the Fallen may have assumed control over the moon, or are the most prevalent force on it. She also asserts that the future of the Fallen is with her, a possible hint that the Fallen faction will further ally with the Darkness in the coming year. This echoes Luke Smith's statement about alien factions adopting Darkness/Stasis powers throughout year 4.

Eramis continues by saying that the Light will not last forever, a possible hint to the inevitable calamity that will come during the Lightfall expansion. Instead, she claims that Darkness is everlasting, a belief that another character, Emperor Calus, held a year ago. We also see shots of a new sniper rifle, as well as The Stranger's Rifle, which will be available right away to those who purchase the Deluxe Edition of Beyond Light.

And lastly, the trailer concludes with the tagline "Discover what lies beneath the ice on Oct 7." It is safe to assume that whatever the reveal is, it will be substantial given that Bungie has allocated a full trailer to simply announce it. What is curious is that players have already been given a glimpse of the Darkness hidden under the snow inside the Europa destination trailer from two weeks ago. This newest teaser implies that there is perhaps more to the mystery than what has been shown.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is available on November 10 for PC, PS4, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. A PS5 version is also in development.
