With the Arc 3.0 subclass rework that launched alongside Season 18 of Destiny 2, developer Bungie introduced three new Nightfall Strike modifiers to mix up the experience. But unlike the normal Nightfall Strike modifiers, which rotate on a weekly basis, these new ones change every day.Of the three new Nightfall Strike rotating modifiers, there is one that is extremely beneficial for players and synergizes with Arc 3.0. It’s called Lightning Crystals, and it makes almost any Nightfall Strike a ton more fun, especially for Destiny 2 players using the Titan class. The Lightning Crystals modifier reads:

Arc and Stasis abilities recharge faster, but you receive more damage from both elements.

On the one hand, Lightning Crystals may sound like the type of Destiny 2 modifier that tricks players into thinking that it is beneficial, when in fact, the buff to enemy damage is too great to overcome. However, that is not the case here. Lightning Crystals recharges arc abilities so fast that players with the right build should be able to throw grenades every few seconds, if not sooner.

Those that just want to see how good Lightning Crystals is can check out the footage below, and then read on for an explanation of what exactly is happening.

Titan Storm Grenade Build for Lightning Crystals

For Titan players, Lightning Crystals is a huge boon for any Nightfall Strike run, even on Master (power level 1600) difficulty. Storm grenades are one of the new types of grenades added with Arc 3.0 and while they are somewhat useful on Warlock and Hunter, they are pretty strong on Titan. The combination of the Touch of Thunder aspect, which makes the Storm grenades roam around and strike enemies, and the Spark of Magnitude fragment, which extends the duration of lingering grenades, turns Storm grenades into an unstoppable torrent.

Just Lightning Crystals and a Titan with Storm grenades are enough to flood the battlefield with electricity. However, it’s possible to take things a step further by fine-tuning a build.

First and foremost, Destiny 2 Titans want to equip the Heart of Inmost Light exotic chest piece for the added grenade damage and recharge bonus after using a melee or class ability. Then, any mods that help with grenade or class ability recharge rate will further boost the loop. And that loop is cycling between throwing a Storm grenade and the thruster dodge (replacing the barricade).

Some mods that pair well with this build include Firepower, which uses a Charge with Light stack to refill grenade energy after throwing a grenade, and Bomber, which gives grenade energy after using the Titan’s class ability. It doesn’t matter how players acquire Charge with Light stacks, but a popular choice is the Charge Harvester mod, which has a chance to give a CWL stack anytime the player gets a kill.

Putting everything together and with some good stats (Resilience for dodge and Discipline for grenade), Destiny 2 Titans should be throwing grenades all the time. It makes quick work of any group of enemies in nearly any Nightfall Strike, especially ones like Exodus Crash that also have the Arc Burn modifier on.

As was mentioned, Lightning Crystals is part of a 3-modifier rotation, so players will need to wait for it to come around before being able to take advantage of it. But when the modifier is active, Nightfall Strikes are a lot of fun.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
