Destiny 2's Season of the Haunted just concluded its seven-week narrative today with the main characters healing from trauma, and looking at a future that's both brighter and bleaker in a variety of ways. With Season of the Haunted now featuring no major narrative developments for its remainder, it will be interesting to see where Bungie is taking Destiny 2 next with Season 18, and eventually its future major expansion, Lightfall. Of course, Bungie's looter shooter is not only about the story beats, although they have gotten much better over time, and many players are also eager to know more about the future of the sandbox.

With so many things left to explore and uncover, Destiny 2 will likely still have plenty to offer further down the line, even when The Final Shape expansion concludes the Light and Dark saga. And yet, there's a chance that players will discover some of these things very soon, as next Thursday is going to be Bungie Day, which is the celebration for the company's foundation all the way back in 1991. Because last year's Bungie Day was a massive anniversary, which also featured a big presentation on Bungie's part, it's possible that this year will be just as important for Destiny 2.

Why Bungie Day Could Be Interesting For Destiny 2's Future

Destiny 2 Bungie's 30th Anniversary pack

Last year, for Bungie's 30th anniversary, the company held major celebrations that included new things coming to Destiny 2 as well, such as the announcement of The Witch Queen expansion and more things planned regarding the 30th Anniversary Pack. The 30th Anniversary Pack itself was quite an interesting addition to Destiny 2 because it encompassed small hints and nods to Bungie's past work, including the Halo franchise, which Bungie created but parted ways with after Halo: Reach. The Witch Queen being revealed with a trailer was also a great moment for Bungie itself and Destiny 2 fans alike, as it was the culmination of seven years of world-building and weaving lore together.

This year, Bungie will be celebrating as well, and it's possible that there will be a small teaser regarding the next major expansion for Destiny 2, Lightfall. If last year says anything about Bungie Day, there is a good chance that something Destiny-related will be revealed on July 7, and even if it's not a Lightfall teaser, it will probably be something big anyway. Because July 7 happens on a Thursday this year, it's not impossible that Bungie will indeed reveal something as if it were a TWAB, just with extra celebrations.

Another cool reveal would be the Arc 3.0 subclasses, which are confirmed to be coming with Season 18. Speaking of which, Bungie could also reveal something about next Season now that Season of the Haunted's main storyline has concluded, or at least the company could finally reveal what Destiny Raid is going to be reprised in Destiny 2.

There are even more options for possible candidates, such as the themes of the Dungeon coming with Season 19 as part of The Witch Queen Deluxe Edition, or maybe even a short clip about what's to come after The Final Shape era is over. Overall, there are many things that could be exciting to keep an eye on for Destiny 2 fans, and while a teaser for Lightfall would make the most sense, it's also worth mentioning that there are still two Seasons left before the expansion drops, and a trailer could easily be spoiler territory.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
