Destiny 2 players still aren't satisfied with Bungie's approach to balancing the game's powerful Stasis subclasses. Fans have now banded together on Twitter in an effort to make the developer aware of the general sentiment among the player base, a movement that has resulted in #NerfStasis trending on the social media site due to the effect it's having on a specific aspect of the looter shooter.

Introduced alongside Destiny 2's delayed fall expansion, Beyond Light, last year, Stasis generated a huge amount of hype prior to its addition due to being the first-ever non-light-based subclass which, unlike Solar, Arc and Void, originates not from the Traveler but the Darkness, an enigmatic cosmic entity that exists in direct opposition to the former. Beyond Light's campaign explores the ramifications of humanity's unification with the very same force it's trying to protect the galaxy against, calling into question how the merger could affect the player character in the future.

Eager to provide gamers with more opportunity for class customization, Stasis functions in a markedly different manner to its light alternatives on a mechanical level, allowing for the use of Aspects and Fragments to alter the properties of individual abilities. While this has been a welcome breath of fresh air, it also means Bungie has had trouble balancing the power of Stasis, especially in PvP, where the majority of this recent criticism is focused on.

The overarching issue, then, isn't that Stasis makes PvE content too easy but rather, that its gimmick (i.e. being able to freeze large groups of enemies and players) is fundamentally unfun and frustrating in a competitive environment. Remedy suggestions range from further nerfing the subclasses' potency in the Crucible to its outright removal from Lord Shaxx's arena and Trials of Osiris, though in light of such an outcome being incredibly unlikely, others have suggested a compromise in the form of a Stasis-free PvP playlist.

Whether this latest wave of feedback will do anything to sway Bungie's handling of the situation remains to be seen, of course, but judging by the fact that Season of the Splicer introduced a brand-new Stasis Exotic in the form of Cryosthesia 77k,  it would seem as though the studio has no intention of restricting the element's use in player-vs-player scenarios. As always, if Bungie intends to provide an update on the situation, fans can expect the response to come in its weekly TWAB blog post.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
