Destiny 2 Making The Mountaintop Pinnacle Weapon Quest Easier

destiny 2 mountaintop quest easier nerf

Destiny 2 will soon make two of its pinnacle weapon quests a bit easier after players have complained about their difficulty. In particular, this upcoming change will affect the quest for The Mountaintop grenade launcher, which has quickly become one of the best weapons in the game for PvP and PvE.

Anyone who has earned The Mountaintop in Destiny 2 will know that the experience of earning the Crucible pinnacle weapon from Season 5 is perhaps one of the longest and most frustrating quest experiences in the game. Ever since its inception, players have complained about how hard it is to earn The Mountaintop.

But according to developer Bungie, in the upcoming Update 2.5.2.2 coming to the game the week of September 3rd, the pinnacle weapon quests for The Mountaintop and also the quest for the Vanguard pinnacle weapon Wendigo GL3 grenade launcher "will become more accessible." Bungie did not go into detail besides saying that specific quest steps will be tuned "based on player feedback."

This will be good news for anyone who has yet to earn these weapons, considering how top tier grenade launchers currently are. The step of The Mountaintop quest that is likely getting tuned is the one that requires grenade launcher kills, multi-kills, and medals. This is the part of the quest that turns into a frustrating grind, which has caused players to tailor their entire loadout and playstyle to getting grenade launcher kills, often at the detriment of their teammates leading to a negative experience in the Crucible.

The Wendigo GL3 quest requires less skill in the Crucible than the quest for The Mountaintop, but it is a long grind; so much so that many players have discovered ways to cheese the quest instead of playing through strikes legitimately. Currently, the quest requires 1500 final blows and 500 multikills with grenade launchers as well as getting kills in strikes. Although Bungie did not give any details, the developer may be hoping to encourage players to complete the quest as intended rather than rely on farming methods just to grind through it as fast as possible.

Interestingly, both these quests have gotten a lot of attention this season after grenade launchers were buffed and have become the best damage dealing weapons in PvE. This change also follows suit with what Bungie has similarly done with this season's Iron Banner quest for that activity's armor, a quest that is also becoming easier before the next time Lord Saladin returns to the Tower.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
