The world of Destiny 2 is continuously evolving with new expansion packs, raids, dungeons, crucible activities, loot, and so much more. With Destiny 2's newest expansion DLC, Lightfall, players may want to take some time to reminisce about past adventures they have had in Destiny 2, starting from the game's first year.

One of the main aspects of Destiny 2 is its complicated story, and NPCs tend to make the story. They're important to Destiny 2. There have been many NPCs that the player has met through the years in Destiny 2, and sadly, some of them are no longer with us, but nevertheless, there are plenty of NPCs that no one could forget in Destiny 2.

10 Commander Zavala

Commander Zavala has seen light in the Destiny franchise since the first game, and now in Destiny 2, he stands as the head of just about everything in The Last City. He specifically watches over the game's Vanguard series, and players can collect bounties from Commander Zavala as they play through the Vanguard playlist.

Commander Zavala is a proud and strong Awoken Titan (with some cool-looking armor) that has helped humanity fight back against the darkness while rebuilding the Last City. Even Ghost remarks about Zavala's achievements during the tutorial mission.

Just like Commander Zavala, Ikora Rey has been in Destiny since Destiny 1, and to this day, she is the Last City's Warlock Vanguard. Ikora Rey is reportedly the most efficient warrior in the Crucible, as players can even find the lore in the Lucky Pants exotic armor.

Ikora Rey is best known for her abilities in helping the Guardian achieve progress through their Light, as players can speak to her in order to purchase upgrades for their subclasses in Solar, Arc, and Void. Ikora Rey has also had some amazing moments in the game's story.

8 The Drifter

The Drifter is an NPC that is remarkable in the sense that he lives in his own world. The Drifter has supposedly been throughout the entirety of the Sol System, and now he hosts the Gambit PvP game mode in Destiny 2.

Instead of meeting the famous Cayde-6 nowadays in Destiny 2, players will be introduced to the Drifter as the host of the Gambit mode, as Cayde-6 isn't around to lead the Hunter Vanguard. The Drifter has had some amazing adventures throughout Destiny, and players can side with him on a quest in Destiny 2.

7 Exo Stranger

Destiny series The Exo Stranger Elsie Bray stands on Europa

The Exo Stranger was one of the latest NPCs to join in on the party, but still has left a significant mark on the player, and still stands as one of the best NPCs today. Exo Stranger was first introduced to players in the Beyond Light expansion DLC pack and will come across her after playing through the DLC campaign.

Exo Stranger introduces Guardians to the power of Darkness, the Stasis subclass. Even after the campaign is finished, players can continue to partake in quests given by the Exo Stranger, also known as Elizabeth Bray, and progress with Stasis.

6 Asher Mir

Asher Mir is notably a grumpy old man in Destiny that players may not care too much about visiting. But, many players are wrong as Ashir Mir is kind, passionate, and unforgettable after his most recent appearance in the Destiny franchise.

Asher Mir's most notable moment in Destiny 2 may be when he (possibly) had vanquished in an ordeal with the Vex. After committing himself to complicated findings, Asher has gone missing ever since, and to this day, no one is sure if Asher is alive or dead, which makes the character that more interesting.

5 Eris Morn

Destiny series Eris Morn surrounded by Nightmares on the Moon

Eris Morn is easily one of the most interesting characters in all of Destiny, and she has connections that reach out further than one would think. Eris Morn is an expert in the Hive, and, being a sly Hunter, is one of the survivors from the failed attempt to assassinate Crota in the FPS game.

After being cared for by Asher, Eris is one of the few Guardians to have wielded Stasis safely, and she works with the Exo Stranger in Beyond Light to help the player in their path with Stasis. More recently, players would have seen her in action in Operation Midas.

4 Mara Sov

Most notably, Mara Sov is the Queen of the Awoken within the Reef. Mara Sov was one of the main characters in helping the Guardians in the Witch Queen expansion. Mara Sov is the sister to Uldren Sov, who is another one of the game's most unforgettable characters, but for different reasons.

Mara Sov is regarded, by a majority of the Destiny community, as one of the game's strongest NPCs. Even after losing her beloved bodyguard, Mara Sov stayed strong against the many battles that had been thrown at her.

3 Uldren Sov

Uldren Sov is the Awoken brother to Mara Sov, and for a time, was actually a great character in the game. Initially, he was the "spymaster" of the Reef, master of the Crows, and would take care of threats against Mara and the Reef.

Unfortunately, there is one series of events that has outcast Uldren as one of the game's more infamous characters. Uldren, after crashing on Mars without any information on his sister's whereabouts, was manipulated into looking for his sister, which ended up being Riven. Ultimately, Uldren Sov was the one that murdered Cayde-6, becoming a villain for a short period of time.

2 Cayde-6

Cayde-6 has brought some of the most incredible memories to the Destiny franchise, and any fans who weren't able to meet the Hunter Vanguard are short of luck since the game has no direct way of meeting Cayde-6. Cayde-6 was the Hunter Vanguard, and lover of chickens.

Cayde-6 famously fought with the players' Guardians in the Red War and even the Taken War. After heading out on missions, Cayde-6 met his end at the hands of Uldren Sov in the Prison of Elders. Now, only small remnants remain of Cayde-6 as exotic weapons, armor, and memorials.

1 The Traveler

Destiny 2 Traveler Last City

The Traveler is quite literally the reason that Destiny is Destiny. The Traveler may be confusing, which is somewhat of a point as even the most important NPCs in Destiny aren't too sure about the Traveler.

What players should know, is that the Traveler came to earth and solved many of its problems from overpopulation, to starvation. It even granted the power of Light to humanity. Recently, the Darkness and the Witness have finally come to confront the Traveler, and though the Traveler fought back, it is up to humanity to end the war that has lasted for hundreds of years.

Destiny 2 is available to play for free on PlayStation 4, 5, Xbox One, Series X/S, and PC.
