While most Destiny 2 players are making their way through the new Joker’s Wild content like Gambit Prime and the Reckoning mode, there are still those who like to pop into older content for fun. Perhaps chief among that group of Destiny 2 players are the challenge runners, who are still trying to find new ways to beat existing encounters, usually raid boss fights. And thanks to some new changes to the way supers work in Destiny 2, a few unique strategies have opened up.

Perhaps the strangest Destiny 2 challenge that we’ve seen in a while involves the Morgeth boss fight in the Last Wish raid. As most would expect, members from Destiny 2 clan Redeem are at it again, this time defeating Morgeth, but from across the broken bridge.

For those that might not be familiar with the Morgeth boss fight in Destiny 2, in order to get to the mutated ogre players need to cross the broken bridge via an Ascendant realm. In the normal plane, the bridge is simply not there, but in the Ascendant realm pieces of the bridge are available to jump across.

While outside of the Ascendant Realm it is possible to get across the bridge, but only from the Morgeth boss fight area backward. Both Titans and Warlocks can make the jump by using their jumps, swords, and some precise timing. In the video below, Redeem clan member Gladd makes the jump by using the Dawnblade Warlock’s Icarus Dash and hover.

Putting everything together, the group goes through the Morgeth boss fight in Destiny 2 in regular fashion. Each fire team member picks up Taken Strength and frees those teammates that get imprisoned. Eventually, though, only a few Taken Strength remain before the damage phase, so the “DPS team” makes their way across the bridge.

Once there, the fireteam members that stay behind complete the mechanics and then the bridge team starts doing damage. Now, one would figure that a sniper rifle like Whisper of the Worm would be perfect for this long-range encounter, but the group actually uses rocket launchers.

Rocket launchers did receive a buff with the latest Destiny 2 balance update, so they are quite strong. It’s also worth pointing out that the team members that stayed behind are debuffing Morgeth, which is why you see yellow damage numbers.

When the Last Wish raid first launched for Destiny 2, this type of strategy could have never happened, but now that the power level has increased by 100 points it is possible.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
