With less than 24 hours until the launch of Season of Opulence, Destiny 2 players are likely putting the finishing touches on their raid preparation for the Crown of Sorrow Raid. But while the focus is on accumulating as many powerful rewards in the short amount of time between Season 7’s launch and the raid going live, there is another aspect of preparation that players should consider.

Because they are so rare, players may not realize that last season introduced some of the best mods to Destiny 2. These mods come in three different options – Minor Resist, Major Resist, and Boss Resist – and they are extremely useful. Some may have received a Taken Resist or a Fallen Resist mod from the Last Wish or Scourge of the Past raid, but these ones locked to just one race. Unfortunately, getting one of these mods is very RNG dependent and can require a lot of grinding.

Currently, the only way to get a Resist mod in Destiny 2, or at least the type that focuses on any enemy type instead of a specific race, is through the Reckoning activity introduced in Season of the Drifter. Players wager a mote at the start of the activity and then if the team is successful they receive a piece of armor in one of the four Gambit Prime armor sets.

If they’re lucky, the piece of armor will have one of the mods on it. Then you can either dismantle the armor piece to reclaim the mod and put it on different armor, or just use that armor piece if you like the perks on it.

minor resist mod farm

Destiny 2 players looking to grind for the Minor Resist, Major Resist, or Boss Resist mods will need to have luck on their side, though, since the mods are very rare. For most, this will mean completing lots of Gambit Prime matches and Gambit Prime bounties for synths and then taking those synths to make motes for Reckoning. It doesn’t seem like the Tier of Reckoning makes a difference on getting a mod, but if your team can complete Reckoning Tier 3 it can’t hurt to farm some weapons in the process.

Because fireteams will be going into the Crown of Sorrow raid underleveled thanks to the Contest modifier, these resist mods should come in handy. Minor Resist is likely the best mod to have if possible since players typically take the most shots/damage from small mobs, but any mod will help.

Destiny 2 Season of Opulence starts June 4th at 10am PT and the Crown of Sorrow raid unlocks at 4pm PT the same day.
