Following the Destiny 2: Shadowkeep delay into October, Bungie released a roadmap to let players know how they can spend the added time waiting for the expansion. With the extension to Moments of Triumph, the return of Iron Banner, and increased Infamy and Valor gains, Bungie also revealed a community challenge that is set to kick off in September. Players will work together to overcome activities on Mars that include defeating Hive, killing Nokris and Xol, playing Escalation Protocol, and more. While the requirements are fairly steep, Bungie is promising some big rewards.

Detailed in its latest weekly blog post, Bungie revealed a new emblem that will unlock once all objectives are completed and any player has completed one Nightfall run in Destiny 2 from September 3 to the 10th. While the emblem may be a source of pride to those who participate, Bungie has made the deal even more enticing by increasing the Menagerie rewards as well.

If the community is able to knock off all challenges before the week ends, Emperor Calus will guarantee two rewards when slotting their runes and opening the chest at the end of a successful Menagerie run. Not only that, an additional reward will be added every Friday during the rest of Season of Opulence.

The added reward bump will no doubt be a welcomed addition by most players in the Menagerie. While the mode may still be the best way to guarantee specific loot, it's not quite as rewarding as it used to be as, before a recent patch, players were able to reset the final chest and continue to acquire loot before the mission end timer reached zero. Doubling the rewards should provide more incentive for players to jump back in to continue searching for god rolls on the Menagerie gear.

The challenge requirements should take the community some time to finish them, tasking players to rack up huge numbers like beating 175 thousand Wave 7 Escalation Protocol bosses or using 300 thousand Override Frequencies. In addition to these tough requirements, the other issue facing the community is the fact that it arrives at a time when other big AAA games are starting to release. Games like World of Warcraft Classic and Gears 5 arrive just in time and may even pull some Destiny 2 players attention away from Mars during the seven-day challenge.
