The Destiny 2 Season of Opulence began just over three weeks ago, which means that players have had quite a bit of time to farm the best gear from the Destiny 2 Menagerie. Indeed, this new 6-player PvE mode grants powerful weapons, and, upon its release, players quickly discovered a Destiny 2 Menagerie exploit that allowed them to earn rewards more quickly than was intended. That said, this opportunity is quickly coming to an end, as Bungie has confirmed that the exploit will be addressed in an imminent update.
The Destiny 2 Menagerie bug in question is related to the mode's final chest, which is intended to be looted once at the end of a successful run. However, fans learned that if they exited the area where the Destiny 2 Menagerie chest is located, and then they reentered said area, they could loot the chest again and again until they were kicked back into orbit. This Destiny 2 Menagerie glitch allowed players to loot the final chest many times per run, expediting the loot grind associated with the mode considerably.
In a recent blog post, Bungie detailed this Destiny 2 Menagerie chest glitch, saying that it feels "reminiscent of when players were farming treasure keys from chests on their Sparrows leading up to House of Wolves." While Bungie appears to be handling the situation with a light touch, it seems that it is still time for the Destiny 2 chest bug to be squashed, and the studio has indicated that will occur with the update scheduled for July 9.
Until then though, Bungie's post encourages fans to make the best of the Destiny 2 chest glitch, inviting players to "grow fat with strength." If anyone was concerned about possible repercussions for using this Destiny 2 chest exploit, this official statement should certainly assuage those fears.
Earlier this week, a Heroic version of the Menagerie was added to Bungie's popular looter shooter, and while some may wonder if the Destiny 2 Heroic Menagerie is worth doing, it, at least, offers more content to players that are looking for some. For those that have obtained all the Menagerie gear that they desire, using the chest glitch in Destiny 2 or otherwise, such additional content may be just what the doctor ordered.
Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version in active development.
