Even though the winning class of the three week Guardian Games event has been basically locked in for a while now, there are still plenty of players attempting to wrap up all sorts of content before it goes away for good at this week's reset. This is the last chance to finish up any outstanding quests, pick up Guardian Games themed items at the Eververse store, as well as unlock remaining triumphs. Considering the mixed response to this event from Destiny 2 players, it's unclear if Guardian Games will be seen again in the future.

To help players burn through bounties, collecting laurels, or any remaining Crucible medals, Bungie unleashed the Mayhem Crucible mode this past week. As Destiny 2 players know, Mayhem significantly reduces cooldowns for class abilities, grenades, and supers. Naturally, this mode introduces plenty of chaos and fun as super abilities a triggered at a constant clip, making it a great time to also pick up fallen laurels during the Guardian Games event.

However, one user ran into unbelievably bad luck at the hands of a Voidwalker Warlock. In a clip captured and posted to Twitter, The CDJohnson shows how crazy spawns can be in a game mode like Mayhem. After activating Golden Gun, an incoming Nova Bomb from a nearby Warlock gets hit by one of his Golden Gun shots and kills him.

That's not quite the end of the story as the Warlock who tossed the void bomb was running the Attunement of Chaos build where the Nova Bomb splits into smaller orbs that seek out enemies. As TheCDJohnson respawns after his first defeat, some of the orbs manage to track him down as he spawns in not far from the original location and he's killed again. Third time's a charm they say as he again respawns in the same area and the final nova orb manages to find his respawned body and vaporizes him for a third time in about 7 seconds.

Thankfully, TheCDJohnson is a good sport about the terrible luck, recognizing that in Mayhem, anything is really possible. Still, the Crucible remains an area of the game that many fans are hoping Bungie will address in the upcoming fourth year. The studio has already provided a ton of details in how it plans to fix other areas of the game such as the increasing focus on microtransactions, FOMO, Bounties, and more. The Crucible may also get its time in the sun one of these weeks during the weekly blog post from Bungie.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
