With King's Fall now available in Destiny 2, it was only a matter of time before Bungie released the more difficult Master version of the raid. Master is intended for highly skilled players that seek to push themselves further and get unique rewards only available at the highest tier of difficulty in the game.

It is a different kind of difficulty from the Legendary Witch Queen Campaign, as Master raids are notorious for relying solely on Champions and absurdly high Power requirements. This is also the case for Master King's Fall, and this guide will help Destiny 2 players know what changes to watch out for.

Modifiers And Power Level

When selecting Master King's Fall from Orbit, players will see several modifiers listed in the lower left-hand corner. The active modifiers are Champions, Chaff, and Match Game. For players unfamiliar with these modifiers, Chaff disables the radar and Match Game requires players to match damage type with enemy shields.

For example, a Void shield can only be reliably broken with Void damage. As far as Champions go, players will encounter Barrier, Overload, and Unstoppable Champions. Other than that, the entire encounter is set to 1600 Power so that players will be doing less damage and taking more damage.

Opening Encounter Changes

From a mechanic standpoint, players will still grab the relics and dunk them into the statues. The Master twist on this encounter is that every time the relics are picked up, Unstoppable Champions spawn right next to them. In addition, an Overload Champion will spawn in the middle room where both teams carrying relics will converge.

Players should have Exotics or Anti-Champion mods equipped to deal with the Champions. Once all the statues have been activated, players can proceed.

Totem Changes

There aren't many big changes with the first real encounter of Master King's Fall. The one thing players should watch out for is when the Unstoppable Champion spawns in the middle. Unlike the normal version of King's Fall, two additional Champions will spawn in the left and right room.

This can cause problems as this is usually around the time that players are swapping the buff and running up to the middle to drop stacks of Deathsinger's Power. So if Champions are not dealt with quickly, they can potentially kill several players at once and cause a wipe.

Warpriest Changes

Since players will be doing less damage, it will take more damage phases to kill the Warpriest. Like in the normal version of the raid, there are only four damage phases, so players will need to optimize their damage as much as possible. Prior to the damage phase starting, three champions will spawn near the plates.

Prior to the Taken phase, three Barrier Champions spawn. During the Taken phase, those three Champions that spawn are Overload Champions instead. Other than that, the mechanics of this encounter are still the same.

Golgoroth Changes

The fight against Golgoroth has had little to no changes in Master difficulty, although players will definitely notice the reduction in damage to the boss. During the initial add clear phase before players are able to taunt Golgoroth, Barrier Champions will spawn on the left and right side of the room.

If Destiny 2 players are able to deal with them quickly while still managing the normal mechanics of this boss fight, they will be able to beat Golgoroth and claim their loot.

Daughters Of Oryx Changes

As is a recurring theme throughout Master King's Fall, the only change that players need to be aware of is that the Knights that spawn on plates are now Barrier Champions.

So aside from using weapons that will allow them to do as much damage as possible to the Daughters of Oryx, players should also have some means of dealing with Barrier Champions whether it is an Anti-Barrier mod or an Exotic with Anti-Barrier as an intrinsic perk. The only other thing to watch out for is Taken Centurions, as Match Game makes them much more difficult to take down.

Oryx Changes

The final encounter of the raid has more noticeable changes. All the Taken Acolytes that spawn will now have Void shields, so players will need to have some sort of Void damage in their load outs. Light Eater Knights now have Arc shields, which will make it take longer to kill them. Rather than Knights spawning on plates, Overload Champions spawn instead. Players will need to team up and take down the Overload Champions as fast as possible.

Other than that, the fight against Oryx is the same as it is in the normal version. So if players can manage both the mechanics and the challenge of Master difficulty, they will successfully defeat Oryx and complete Master King's Fall.

Destiny 2 is now available for Epic Games Store, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Steam, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
