Destiny 2 has set a new record on Steam with the Lightfall expansion release. After a year of waiting, Destiny 2 players can finally check out all the new content prepared by Bungie in Lightfall. The result of all the anticipation for Lightfall's arrival was seen on social media and also on Steam.

Lightfall is the seventh expansion released for Destiny 2 and the 11th expansion of the Destiny franchise. In this expansion that brings the penultimate chapter of the Light & Darkness Saga, the Guardians have a new mission: prevent the apocalypse. To do so, the Guardians must face The Witness and Calus, its new disciple. The Guardians' journey will also cross paths with the Shadow Legion and the new terrifying Tormentors. These powerful humanoid creatures are commanded by The Witness and are bent on wreaking havoc in the technological capital of Neomuna.

According to the SteamDB website, Destiny 2 reached 316,750 concurrent players, the highest number ever registered by the game on Valve's platform. Destiny 2 changes brought by Lightfall are comprehensive, the first and most notable for players is the strong nerf to exotic armor swapping in PvP. Another new feature brought by Bungie is simplified weapon crafting in Destiny 2, finally responding to community feedback. The expansion's new content continues with the introduction of the new power Strand subclass: with it, Destiny 2 players will have access to powerful new attacks for each Guardian class to use in unique ways.

Even though Destiny 2 console players are having trouble playing the new expansion, the release of new content for an online multiplayer game is always a reason for its community to rejoice. With Destiny 2 it is no different, as Lightfall arrives to continue the Witch Queen era narrative with a battle of immense proportions. With great conflict, uncertainty, and a new adventure for the Guardians, it's a good time for active Destiny 2 players to dive into the game's universe. And for players who have been away for a while, it is a very opportune time to return.

Destiny 2: Lightfall is out now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
