Destiny 2 is famously known for keeping the game alive with continuous updates and expansion DLC packs being added to the game over the several years that the title has been available. Now, Destiny has released its third large expansion pack after Beyond Light and The Witch Queen. The new expansion pack, called Lightfall, has unveiled a new destination area, new strikes, dungeons, and even raids.

One of the more exciting features to be added is the brand-new subclass that all three classes can hop into by purchasing Lightfall. There's, as always in Destiny 2, a lot to partake in the new DLC, and although the story may be criticized, it's fair to say that Bungie is doing a great job with adding more and more into the free-to-play game.

7 The New Strand Subclass

Quite arguably the most exciting part of the announcement of Destiny 2 Lightfall was the reveal of the new subclass that players could obtain through the Lightfall campaign. The new subclasses derive from Strand, a new element with some curious features.

Reportedly, Strand is a Darkness power that uses Weave to take on foes. For Titans, this subclass is called the Berserker, for Warlocks, this subclass is called the Broodweaver, and for Hunters, this subclass is called the Threadrunner. All of these are amazing, and we have guides to help players progress with the new subclasses.

6 Exotic Weapons And Armor

Another exciting addition to the world of Destiny 2 is the newest Exotic weapons and armor that players will be able to obtain in Destiny 2 Lightfall. First off, players could have obtained the Quicksilver Storm Auto-Rifle after purchasing the Lightfall Annual Pass.

Other than that, all the Exotic armor and weaponry can be obtained by playing through the many activities available in the newest DLC and the newest destination, Neomuna. Here's a list of the Exotics that can be obtained:

  • Abeyant Leap: Titan leg armor that grants additional projectiles to Suspend enemies, and also grants the Titan extra armor.
  • Swarmers: Warlock leg armor that allows the Warlock to spawn 'Threadlings' after defeating an enemy using Strand.
  • Cytarachne's Facade: Hunter helmet that grants additional armor and resistance to flinch when the Hunter grapples.
  • Deterministic Chaos: A Void heavy machine-gun. Every fourth bullet becomes a heavier projectile, and every sixteenth bullet makes an enemy Volatile.
  • Final Warning: A kinetic Strand sidearm. When hip-firing and holding down the trigger, Final Warning unleashes a burst of bullets that will track enemies.
  • Verglas Curve: A Stasis bow that is available in the Season of Defiance. Fires icicle arrows to store arrows on precision hits, and then unleashes the stored arrows to freeze multiple enemies.
  • Vexcalibur: A Void glaive that has the ability to fire multiple projectiles and has a shield that grants Void overshield to the player and allies nearby when blocking projectiles.
  • Winterbite: A very cool-looking Stasis glaive that can release a large ball of Stasis to freeze enemies.

5 Where Lightfall Fits Into The Story

Many Destiny 2 players want to understand where Lightfall fits into the story, and that is especially true with newer players who may not have any idea which DLCs take place before others.

Lightfall, being the third large DLC expansion in the game, takes place in the present timeline of Destiny 2. In order, the major expansions are as follows: Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, The Witch Queen, and then Lightfall. Lightfall deals with humanity and the Traveler coming face to face with the game's main antagonist, the Witness.

4 The New Destination

Having a brand-new planet to set sail in outer space is definitely a grand and welcomed addition to Destiny 2. The new planet is one that fans are all familiar with as well: Neptune. Neptune. On Neptune, players are able to navigate to the unexpected, bright, and vivid city of Neomuna.

Neomuna is a large city that resembles a neon light-filled extravaganza, except players will find that it is under attack. The new destination is a wonder to play various activities and is a lot of fun when using the city as a playground for the new Strand subclass.

3 The Root Of Nightmares

Players who completed the Destiny 2 Lightfall campaign may just be on the edge of their seats waiting for the promised raid to unveil itself to them. Luckily, the newest raid, which has been named, The Root of Nightmares, will be available to all players who purchase the Lightfall annual pass on March 10th.

There isn't much to go off of when it comes to understanding the raid, but players should expect something a little more difficult than they are used to, especially after being informed that the raid will have longer times for the contest mode than raids have had before.

2 Future Dungeons

With the announcement and eventual release of Destiny 2 Lightfall, players were informed that there would be two future dungeons to be added to the game as well. Both dungeons will be updated in the game after the debut of The Root of Nightmares.

The dungeons have not been confirmed as to what they will entail, but players should be on the lookout in Seasons 21 and 23, which is when each dungeon will be released. While some players are rooting for more Legacy dungeons, others are hoping to get newer dungeons that will be playable on Neomuna.

1 Is Lightfall Worth It?

Destiny 2 Lightfall Guardians Battle

Destiny 2 Lightfall has become a topic of popular discussion regarding its price. As of now, Lightfall is currently $49.99. The expansion pack is pricey for DLC, but despite that, it is fair to remember that Destiny 2 is a free-to-play game.

Players don't need to purchase DLC, but the DLC offers so much in addition to the base game. In fact, Lightfall brings players a new campaign on an entirely new destination. The story may be rocky, but the Strand subclass and gameplay are incredibly fun.

Destiny 2 Lightfall is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
