This season, Destiny 2 offers players a wide variety of modes and events to take part in. Along with the PvE activity The Menagerie, players have recently been invested in the Triumph Hall and completing the Moments of Triumph. New exotics have also made their way into the game like The Bad Juju pulse rifle, which helps players earn their super a bit faster than normal. Another seasonal exotic is at the center of a new glitch, which has helped make Hunter players become the new melee king over their fellow Titan players.

In order to start hitting enemies for massive damage as a Hunter, players will need the exotic gauntlet, Liar's Handshake. Introduced inside of the Season of the Drifter, this gear has the intrinsic perk called Cross Counter, which allows the player to perform an extremely powerful melee counter-punch after getting hit or using an Arc melee ability that also heals. However, as one Destiny 2 subredditor has found, the perk can be manipulated into staying active indefinitely.

Essentially, when the Cross Counter buff is active, Hunters should pick up an object such as a Hive sword, forge battery, or any other thing that can be carried and then throw it to refresh the melee buff. With the buff active again, every second melee attack gains the full benefit of cross counter, but user experimentation has discovered that all melee strikes benefit from an added damage boost.

A couple things to note here is that going into the menus or loading to a new screen will cancel out the effect. In addition, the healing bonus remains tied to the Cross Counter buff, and won't trigger on every melee strike like the damage buff. Switching, firing, or reloading weapons will not negatively impact this glitch either. Considering the high amounts of damage some Hunters can now cause, players should certainly expect Bungie to close this loophole sooner than later.

Depending how quickly Bungie can deploy a fix, the melee damage glitch could come in handy for the armor upgrade grind that's coming back next week in the Solstice of Heroes event. Detailed in a new trailer yesterday, Solstice of Heroes introduces the European Aerial Zone for a new PvE boss rush encounter along with new gear and items to obtain. The upgradeable armor is again at the center of the update along with the many challenges that come with it, though for this year, Bungie is making the armor compatible with the new gear updates coming inside of September's Shadowkeep expansion release.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
