Slayerage and Epicookiez, the talented Destiny and Destiny 2 duo, have conquered another impressive, self-imposed challenge. The Destiny 2 Leviathan raid's final boss, Calus, has been defeated. What typically requires six players has been managed by just two, albeit those two may be the most well-geared Guardians in all of Destiny 2. Nevertheless, it's a staggering achievement and another great trophy for the historied duo.

According to Slayerage, the Calus kill, oddly enough, is said to be even easier with two players than it is with three:

"This was actually easier than three manning, funny enough. The normal mechanics of the fight are still possible with three people, but once you get down to two, it's either fight insane RNG or use the sneaky sneaky spot Cookiez is in. Wouldn't have been able to do this, especially not so soon, if not for the fact that it was brought to my attention by Adnan Özsarigöl's comment on the 3 man video that this spot exists."

The "sneaky sneaky spot" Slayerage mentions is what makes the encounter manageable with two players. Within the so-called "shadow realm" phase of the encounter, at least one player must remain inside to defeat the psions that spawn. These scions can kill players with ease, either doing a lot of quick damage since the players cannot move well or through a near-unavoidable knock-up. The special spot protects the player, so long as the player kills the psions as they extremely fast.

Beyond the sneaky spot, which could be considered an exploit, the duo conquers the rest of the encounter's mechanics head first. They ignore killing the "correct" psion in the throne room, dealing with the powerful spawns instead. They burn through Calus' shields with pure DPS. It's just a matter of knowing the fight backward and forward and trusting in your teammate to do their job. Also, being extremely talented at the game likely helps a lot.

This isn't the first impressive achievement by Slayerage and Epicookies in Destiny 2. Less than a week ago the duo managed to defeat the nefarious Pleasure Gardens encounter with just two players, arguably a much more difficult challenge due to the efficiency and organization required. They were also part of the first raid to complete the Leviathan raid at all. If there's a Destiny 2 achievement to be had, this duo will be competitive in its completion.

It's unclear if the Leviathan raid's remaining encounters, the Royal Pools and The Gauntlet, are possible structurally to complete with two players. As such, the duo may go into stasis until the raid's hard mode or Challenges are released. Though if anything the two will simply return to PvP, much to their opponents chagrin.

Destiny 2 is available now on PS4 and Xbox One, with a PC release to follow on October 24.
