Exotic quests aren’t uncommon in Destiny 2, but they are no cakewalk. The Avalon quest will grant players the Vexcalibur, an exotic glaive. Players that want the Vexcalibur catalyst, or further pinnacle rewards will want to complete Destiny 2’s Avalon quest on Legend Difficulty, which is certainly no easy task.

Luckily for some players that are up to the challenge, there are plenty of tips for Legend Avalon that will help them beat the mission and the final boss, and walk away from the puzzle-heavy encounter with their fresh catalyst and fresh rewards.

7 Check Mission Modifiers

Legend Difficulty missions are harder for a reason. Part of that reason is the modifiers that are not present for the normal version of said mission. The Legend Avalon will see players faced with additional challenges, so it’s always a good idea to make sure every Guardian is aware of the Mission Modifiers that are available at the time that the player is embarking on their difficult journey.

By checking the Mission Modifiers, players will know what to look out for, and they will not be too surprised and unprepared when the Vex treat them like a bowl of Vex milk. Many of the Mission Modifiers may involve hints on what shield combatants' enemies will face, so players will know what to prioritize out of Arc, Void, or Solar energy weapons.

6 Prioritize Hobgoblins

It only takes one bad enemy to ruin the run, and Hobgoblins are a violent bunch of Vex snipers that players will want to take care of quickly. Hobgoblins usually spawn on high ground and far away, but their Solar shots hit like a truck. Considering Legend difficulty missions have harder-hitting enemies, without the right mods, Hobgoblins can certainly one-shot any Guardian in range, so it’s best to take these Vex out first.

There are plenty of threats in the Avalon Legend mission, but Hobgoblins takes the cake for the most obnoxiously violent. Their tracking is dangerous, and their Solar shots are not to be trifled with. Taking them out first means players can traverse the arena without being shot out of a glide and stopping the Guardian from recieving a great Lightfall exotic.

5 Clear Ads

It’s commonplace for any activity to clear out ads. Whether it’s a Strike, Dungeon, or especially a Raid. Clearing out Ads means that players will generate Supers, and ammo and just make sure that their fighting area is cleared of anyone and anything that might cause additional carnage to the ensuing violence that lies ahead. Commander Zavala would certainly appreciate the enemies of the Last City getting knocked out.

The Vex swarm in a mass of machinery, so taking care of Vex Goblins, Hydras, Harpies, and anything else that dares to teleport toward the Guardians needs to be taken care of. This is especially true for the puzzle sections of the game, as players will want to defend the Guardian that is trying to help them progress through the next area.

4 Focus Matching Shields

There are a variety of shield types in Destiny 2, but the usual three suspects are Solar, Void, and Arc. Considering that the Legends Difficulty mission tells players what shields they can expect, it is wise to listen to the game and pick weapons that can counter these shields. If players are shooting shields that are not of the matching type, it will take noticeably longer to destroy them, and they will not get an elemental explosion effect to further damage enemies.

Bringing in weapons that can damage matching shield types is not only beneficial to kill things quicker, but it will help generate Orbs of Power, as certain mods will allow players to generate Orbs if they destroy a shield with a matching elemental type.

3 Communicate With A Fireteam

Solo activities are difficult, but the Legend Avalon Mission takes the cake on the difficulty spectrum. It’s a mission intended for three people, so there is no harm in booting up the Destiny 2 LFG app or website if players do not have a clan or friends that are willing to help. Players will want the best team that they can get.

By having a strong fire team, Guardians will be able to have the power to accomplish a victory. It helps to communicate what’s going on, and what each team member is doing. It also helps in the damage phases for bosses, and for knowing when to pop a Super for that added protection and damage.

2 Reach The Power Cap

Destiny 2 Players Want Exotic Weapon Changes

The Power cap in Destiny 2 for Season 20 is 1810, which can be boosted up by the Artifact of the Season. Some players will be deterred from the Legend mission when it tells them that the game is recommending a Power of 1830, but since this number is almost impossible, players really should elect for at least 1815 Power with the additional levels from the seasonal Artifact.

1815 Power is a good cap for this mission, and players will notice the difference in damage that they deal and the damage that they can handle. Players that are not ready for this mission should not enter it under-leveled as they will be in for a much harder time, there are plenty of ways to increase the Power level of the player to prepare for the mission ahead.

1 Watch Those Mods

Destiny 2 Mod Customization Screen

There was a mod overhaul system introduced in Season 20 for Destiny 2. With this new system, different mods were added into the mix that could be added to individual armor pieces to make a specific build worthwhile. Players should invest in this system, as well as the Aspects and Fragments that can be used based on what subclass they are using.

For some bosses and enemies throughout this encounter, players might want to swap their armor mods based on what the situation calls for. They might need a different elemental surge, or they might just want to build some damage stacks to generate Orbs of Power for the team. Armor mods are essential to the new wave of Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
