As Destiny 2's current season draws to a close, speculation is building for the multiplayer game's next steps. While Bungie has teased the return of various fan favorite characters, curious fans are turning to leaks for more information. Recently, one of these leaks claimed to know more about other returning characters that the developers have not confirmed yet.

So far, Bungie has confirmed that both The Drifter and Eris Morn will be coming into play for Destiny 2's future plans. To announce their returns, the developer released two official teaser trailers featuring the characters and new locales. Unfortunately, from the quick deletion of the Eris teaser, it appears that Bungie unintentionally leaked some details on its own. The latest leak does not have an accompanying video, but it claims to know which character Bungie will unveil next.

Recently, Reddit user Torobatl came across a 4chan comment that claimed to know real details about Destiny 2's future. Initially, the Reddit user took the leak with a grain of salt. But they did send the leak to a friend to verify its findings. Once the Eris and Drifer teasers appeared, the original poster thought the leak had merit, and chose to repost it.

The leak claims that The Stranger will return to the game in an expansion. Moreover, it states that the foreshadowed hourglass and blade from the game's Invitation of the Nine quest referred to the Stranger and Eris respectively. According to the leak, Bungie will release a reveal trailer showing the Drifter, Eris and the Stranger working together on the Europa tundra. The leaker believes that this expansion will be a culmination of the Forsaken storyline. Although the Darkness will not be directly involved, it will be somewhat mentioned. The 4chan leak specifically claims it will involve a mix of CGI and live-action footage, and that the trailer will come out soon. The leak alleges that Bungie is building up to the Stranger's reveal "to make a bigger splash."

As Torobatl said, details from previous leaks seem to line up with this latest post. However, it is important to note that Bungie has not confirmed any of these details. In the Reddit replies, many fans believed the leaks were feasible, but they did question certain details from the 4chan post. For example, one Reddit user believes that the leak may not be about an expansion, but about Destiny 2's next season. Others found the fact that the Darkness did not have a larger presence suspicious. Finally, one commenter questioned why the leak claimed the Drifter had a helmet when he wore a hood in the promo.

Whether or not player speculations come to pass, it is clear that Bungie has big plans for Destiny 2. Hopefully, these plans will live up to expectations.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
