With the final week of the Season of the Worthy finally here, many players have wondered how the current narrative is going to play out. At this moment, the massive Cabal ship known as the Almighty continues on a devastating collision course with Earth. Players have been working to power up the Warmind AI Rasputin to deal with the threat and so far, nothing has come to pass. With the Almighty getting ever bigger in The Tower sky box and Ana Bray waxing poetic about the dawning of a new Golden Age, something has to give before next week.

Thanks to some digging by the Destiny 2 community, it appears Bungie is planning some sort of event or cutscene in the near future. Over on Reddit, a new legendary emblem has been discovered in the game's database called Seraph's Wings, which carries the familiar Rasputin logo and a dot matrix pattern reminiscent of the maps found in the bunker. As of right now, this emblem isn't available in the game and the database ties it to something called Witness Rasputin's Full Power.

What's also interesting is the flavor text that accompanies this item which reads: "The Almighty is no more. Come to the Tower to see the fallout and pick up your commemorative Emblem."

Naturally, this has set off a wave of speculation among members of the community with most people agreeing that the leak and the use of the word witness indicates Bungie is attempting to close the season with a big in-game event. However, players can't seem to agree on what kind of event it'll be with most expecting an in-game cutscene taking place and then prompting players to visit The Tower to see what has become of it in the aftermath of the destruction. Others remain a bit more hopeful that Bungie is trying something new by introducing live events, similar to what Fortnite has done in the past.

While a live event would be interesting and likely well accepted by Destiny 2 players, there are a number of factors that may prevent something like this. Bungie's game engine and current setup  simply isn't as equipped as the Unreal Engine to handle events like this. While it's true that Bungie has been experimenting with live updates, as seen in the Guardian Games with the class flags being updated in real time, something like this is on a whole different level.

Plus, trying to organize a massive event like this may be tricky to pull off with the studio working from home due to the current pandemic. Finding a proper time is another problem as people could be at work, meaning the event would likely need to be run multiple times or add an in-game timer so players know when to be ready.

Regardless, this latest leak seems to confirm that change is coming sooner than expected to Destiny 2. While most of the talk and focus has been on what's coming later in the Fall, Season 11 appears to be a major catalyst for pushing the game forward. A strange glitch related to the Tower and its appearance earlier this season appears to now have actually been a glimpse at what's to come.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
